Pros: Sleek, easy to use, pleasant design. Cons: Pre-fab pods can get a little expensive.
As time marches on, we have made a conscious effort to drink less coffee. We are at the point of only having one cup each in the morning. We had been using our Cuisinart 12-cup coffee maker, but found that we were wasting a tremendous amount of coffee. ...

Pros: Easy to refill, works with multiple/specialty pods, stylish looks. Cons: Hood lock can be annoying, steams a lot at times, difficult to pick up safely.
First, a bit of a warning to prospective pod people. Pod coffeemakers are an odd bunch. They are a bit harder to get used to, and all of the economy (under $100) models seem to have their quirks. If you're going to buy a pod coffeemaker, expect some ...

Pros: Brews a cup in about one minute. Works well, easy to use, easy to clean! Cons: You get supermarket-quality coffee. Lattes/cappuccinos somewhat dissapointing. Pods cost 30-60 cents each.
First of all, two caveats: 1) I may not be the target audience for this machine. Generally, I like to buy coffee from local roasters, and grind them at home. It's a bit of a hassle, but I like the quality of the coffee much better. Generally, I drink ...

Pros: Brews great coffee, great build quality, good looks, ease of use. Large online pod selection. Cons: Pod choice locally may be limited.
Simple and easy to use. Produces excellent coffee if used correctly. The history: The coffee pod sensation started in Europe with the introduction of the SENSEO® coffee pod system which was the result of a partnership between electronics experts ...

Pros: one cup at a time, detachable reservoir Cons: watery bland coffee, new machine or plastic tasting coffee
Being a single woman, I bought this machine because I thought it was attractive, easy to use, and convenient. I would not need to brew a whole pot of coffee and waste most of it. What really sold me was the detachable (or not) reservoir. The pod idea ...

Pros: Great concept, fast brewing time, easy to fill water container, easy clean up Cons: Coffee tasted like burnt plastic
My husband and I are big-time coffee drinkers, but he leaves at 4:00am and I don't get going until 7:30 - therein lies the problem - I would always get old lukewarm coffee. We decided to try the single cup coffee maker. What We Got I picked ...

Pros: Produces a good cup of coffee
Much easier to use
Basically foolproof Cons: Still has a small water reservoir
The third time was a charm. I returned the HCC100, they sent me a HCC70....I returned it and told them I wanted some bang for my buck instead of a leaky machine and a puddle on my counter. I had seen the GT300 at the Gevalia website and I figured that ...

Pros: quick cup of coffee; comes out hot and very tasty Cons: may have some trouble getting the machine to work, initially. limited flavors of pods
I got the GT300 as a Christmas gift. I was very excited to get it home and try it out, only to be disappointed. I got the machine home, washed all the parts and then followed the directions to run the initial cleaning cycle. The machine, made a very ...

The Worst!
by chrismidget ,Jan 13 '07
Pros: None Cons: Cheap, Cheap, Cheap
I wanted one of these coffeemakers so bad but this was the worst appliance I ever bought. From day one it leaked all over and wouldn't make a full cup of coffee. I returned it to the store for a replacement and the second one was even worse. I could get no satisfaction from Black& Decker. They just told me to keep returning them to the store and then stopped answering me at all. I finally threw it away.

Restroom Literature as short story by Faulkner
by rstacyfaulkner ,Mar 06 '07
Pros: None Cons: Won't work consistently enough to even get any cons?
I read the manual of everything I purchase. Especially in my most private of private studies,,,,, My bathroom.
I know how the coffee maker is intended to work, but poor craftsmanship may be why 50% of them don't work properly. My coffee-maker works 50% of the time. I must put it through its cleaning mode before every brew.
I have even cleaned it right after a brewing, then tried to use it the next day. Still, I had to use the cleaning mode before it would brew. Maybe it collected a lot of dust within 24 hours?
Apparently, this coffee maker performs great for some consumers and when it does work for me, it makes a great tasting coffee that would make some cafes in Europe jealous. So, if you decide to purchase this item, it will be a crap-shot if it works.

Worst Appliance I ever bought
by montolia ,Jun 23 '07
Pros: Nice concept - removable oversized water reservoir, fits many size mugs, small footprint
Cons: Won't actually make a cup of coffee
I didn't even get one cup of coffee out of this device! I plugged it in and if filled half a cup, then 2 blue lights started blinking. Seems like a software error. I'm a mechanical engineer, but I see nothing that I can even tinker with to fix it. The door is locked shut. Unplugging it, waiting, then plugging it back in just brings it back to the same blinking light / locked state. That's the second Black and Decker product I've had fail way prematurely!

Please don't buy this coffee maker
by asheils ,Nov 14 '06
Pros: I got a full refund for it Cons: DOES NOT WORK
I definitely should have done some research before I wasted my time with this one. The first time we used this (not even making a cup of coffee--just doing the pre-rinse cycle!!!), it malfunctioned. Two blue lights just flashed and flashed, and it never finished its cycle. We unplugged it and re-plugged it and it still didn't reset itself. It seemed like every other time we tried to use it (it did, in fact make a decent cup of coffee a couple of times), it stopped in the middle and flashed its lights. The troubleshooting section of the booklet said nothing about this issue. WHen I went to the website, it offered very little troubleshooting information. When I clicked on the FAQ link, it was BROKEN!! Incredibly frustrating. Please do not buy this machine.

Nice machine; poor coffee
by jhpellowski ,Jun 05 '06
Pros: Quick; easy to use; allows for variety of one cup at a time brewing. Cons: Even with multiple pods, the coffee is weak and below standard. Pods are too expensive.
This machine is attractive, easy to use, and I like being able to brew one flavor for myself and another for my wife.
The pods are a clean and convenient way to go. However, we never achieved what we consider to be an acceptable quality. Even following the directions and using 2 pods for a 7 ounce cup, the coffee was as watery as the end of the brew cycle convenience store products.
I will go back to grinding my own beans and forget about the pods. They are too expensive for the result you get.

Malfunctioning unit
by ad5qa ,Dec 26 '06
Pros: One cup Cons: Malfunctions, Leaks, and noisy
I just got my GT300 and after six cups it is malfunctioning. I will bring it back for another replacement/second chance. It only spits cold water and none of the buttons work not even the stop button. The creamy and 14oz buttons blink. As soon as it is plugged in the pump starts running and there is no stopping it. The pod door is stuck closed and I am out of options. I have been trying to fix it for two days now.
