Pros: Nice looking, good price, easy to use, excellent coffee. Cons: Don't like cord storage.
For Christmas this past year I purchased my husband a Cuisinart DCG-12BC coffee grinder. My husband is a Starbucks Coffee addict. Used to be he would purchase the fresh beans in the Starbucks store closest to his office and have them grind it fresh on ...
Pros: Compact, clean, and, oh so nice! Cons: A little noisy. Bad instruction manual.
I couldn't be happier with my new coffee grinder. In half a minute, I have the best smelling grounds--the entire house fills with the scent. And most importantly, within minutes I have wonderful, fresh coffee. Sweeeet! Specs: ~Grinds enough ...
Pros: Stylish appearance, Easy to use, Easy to clean Cons: A little bulky, It takes longer to make finer grounds, Problematic cord storage, Additional cleanup.
With my infrequent writing excursions outside the media categories, I've made it fairly clear to those who read all of my reviews that I am a lover of coffee and I am quite proud the look my kitchen is developing. It's all coming up stainless steel as ...
Pros: great item for coffee lovers, good price, small enough for the kitchen counter Cons: nothing
My wife and I enjoy decent coffee, but realized that some of our coffee didn't have as much flavor as we thought it would. For Christmas in 2005, our parents purchased us the Cuisinart Grind Central coffee grinder. This had to be one of the best ...
Pros: Looks goods. Removable grinding bowl. Cons: Poor grinding: takes a long time and very uneven.
This grinder looks great, has some great features, but unfortunately lacks in the most important area. The grind!
It has a removable grinding bowl, which is very convenient, especially since it's dishwasher safe. I love that feature. Makes cleaning easy. This grinder also looks great. I love the stainless steel, even if it's a bit larger that other grinders. It's also fairly quiet...at least relative to my last two grinders.
Now, the grind. This grinder takes longer than others I've owned and is not that consistent. Sure, it holds a lot of beans at once...one of it's selling points to me. But, as it grinds a full load, it doesn't grind evenly. The fine grounds get packed down below the blades and the top grounds are too coarse. Even with a small load though, it has trouble creating very finely ground coffee....and it takes a while.
Sad to say, my final words are, "not recommended". If I can find the receipt, I'll be returning this one.
Pros: nice design Cons: useless, does not grind properly, takes a LONG time to grind and brakes easily.
The slick appearance blinded my eyes; it sure is a nice looking appliance. However that does not make it any more useful. The grinder button fell off after 3 months or so. The coffee takes really long to be finely ground (try 3 and half minutes!)and therefore it's kind of tiresome to hold the button down (even before it was broken). We used to have a small Krups for 15 years and it only ended its fantastic performance after several hard falls onto the ground. Oh I wish I stayed faithful to Krups. My entire coffee ceremony is harshened by the new and broken uselessness of this Cuisinart grinder. BTW this is not the only Cuisinart appliance that turns out to be a real sucker. So buyers beware, it's not worth your money!!!
quit working - less than a year old by laffitte ,Oct 09 '08
Pros: simple to use, nice design Cons:
not working anymore.
Great while it worked, but motor burned out this morning. Less than a year old; used it 5 or 6 times a week. I thought it should last for years like my old Chemex grinder.
Don't have warranty information and Cuisinart website is not user-friendly.
Great Styling - Terrible Grinder by sage63 ,Jan 18 '05
Pros: Looks. Cons: Doesn't grind well.
Looks also got me to buy this grinder. (It matched my Cuisinart Coffee Pot.) But it isn't enough for me to keep it. I am taking it back to the store today. It did a horrible job of grinding the beans. Big chunks of bean were all throughout the grind - even after several re-grinds of substantial length. The beans whir up into the plastic lid and cling around the grooves. Hard to clean. My old Krups grinder was killer and the only reason I was replacing it is because I misplaced it during a move. I'm going right back and getting another Krups. Don't waste your money on this good lookin' but poor performing product.
Not so great for grinding less than 10 cups by eyggnuhc ,Oct 27 '08
Pros: -Pretty -Easy to remove and clean bowl -Grinds 18c Cons: -Takes a long time to grind well -Does not grind evenly -Burns beans -Too many parts to clean
I have found the Cuisinart Grind Central Coffee grinder to be workable, but not especially impressive, especially if you don't grind more than 12 cups of coffee. The body is clunky, has more pieces to clean up, and doesn't grind as well as smaller, cheaper grinders.
Grind Central DCG-12BC breaks to easy by gavin1021 ,Aug 10 '07
Pros: Matches my coffemaker Cons: not reliable and doesn't grind that great either.
I received this grinder as a gift and it matched my Cuisinart coffee maker that I do like but the first one broke after only the third time. I couldn't remove the bowl from the base. My wife returned it to the store and got another one hoping that I just had bad luck with the first. I think it lasted a little longer this time but the bowl became hard to remove from the base and then the thing finally locked up. Well I give up!
Bowl gets stuck and can't be removed by vegwriter ,Jun 08 '05
Pros: Supposedly removable bowl Cons: Bowl gets stuck & can't be removed. Doesn't grind fine enough
I bought this coffee grinder because I wanted one with a removable bowl, in order to wash it. But the bowl gets stuck and can't be twisted off. This is frustrating and irritating.
In addition, it doesn't grind fine enough.
And finally--as if all that wasn't bad enough--the lucite bowl cover is poorly designed; whatever you grind up adheres to the underside of the cover top and inevitably spills onto the counter when you remove the cover.
