If I were to rate my 3-2-1 system right now (after my second software update), I would give it 5 stars. However, I have taken 2 stars away for the many headaches suffered these past months trying to get the system up to its present level of performance. I have experienced all the glitches and problems expressed in previous reviews (muffled sound, sound cutting out, slow loading, errors reading discs, freezing or shutting down, refusing to eject discs). Obviously this was a maddening experience while it was happening. The good news is I have gotten the latest software update from Bose and all problems have been resolved. Not only does the console perform better and faster, but the sound quality has been improved immensely. Stereo separation, definition, clarity, depth, and overall strength of sound are noticeably better than before. So I strongly advise anyone having problems with their system to call or email Bose for the latest free update disc, because Bose will not send it automatically. The new software has made all the difference in the world.

This is my 3rd home theater setup, the first being from Sony and the second from Panasonic. Both sounded great and amazed my family and friends with crisp clear dolby 5.1 surround sound. But then my Fiance bought me a Bose 3-2-1 and finally I was amazed. The sound is simply incredible, the unit itself excellent and the overall package; well it's worth 5 stars in my book. No errors, glitches or freeze ups with my 3-2-1. Just smooth operation and a tiny footprint. The price was a bit steep to me, but like all most things, you get what you pay for.

Pros: easy to setup, sounds great.
Cons: lacks the surround sound impact of more expensive models

This system is designed for your rec room or some casual area. It shouldn't be for your main television area. A more expensive bose system would be more appropriate there.
If you like a simple system that sounds good and is easy to setup, this would be your system.
It was worth the thousand dollars but in know way compares to bose's more elaborate models.

I got this system to replace the 80's "mega speaker" system that my husband had when we got married and I LOVE it. It's small, sounds great and is SO simple to use. I would definitely recommend for the casual listener.
