I have had the opportunity to use several different scanners at work and belonging to friends. Most of them leave a lot to be desired as far as I'm concerned. The HP 6300c is my second home scanner - the first one (not an HP) lasted all of 3 days and...
Pros: Very fast, excellent scanning software, USB cable included Cons: Software does not allow adding or deleting "scanto" apps
I've had the HP 6300C for about two months as a replacement for my Umax 1220P, and all I can say about it is that it is incredibly fast running on a USB connection, has an excellent software bundle, and is simply the very best consumer level scanner...
Pros: Top notch software makes great scans easy Cons: Don't buy it for the slide adapter...
Hm, where to start? I bought this scanner for an unusual purpose. I collect coins and medals and have found that, strangely enough, a flatbed scanner is one of the best ways to get an image on the web.
My office recently purchased this scanner for use in the marketing department. I, being the head (and only) geek, was forced to test it to ensure it was, ah, working properly. Of course, I had to test numerous different photos in order to get an...
Pros: Easy to install/use, quick. Cons: A little slow at 1200dpi full color scan
My wife had an idea of scanning all of our "analog" photographs and making digital presentations with the pictures. Well, we have well over 3,000 photos. My old scanner, a Mustek 600IIIEP, was quite slow and would take forever to scan in...
Pros: Easy to use, 5 quick scanner buttons, excellent resolution, unlimited enhanced resolution, HP quality, PC and Mac compatible, USB and SCSI interface, fast! Cons: can be expensive for most especially with add on equipment
As far as scanners go... WOW!
The hospital I work at just got a few of these scanners, and after playing with them for a few months, all I can say is WOW... I wished that I had played with this before I bought my 5300 (still an excellent,...
Pros: Fast!! :0) Cons: At first Confusing! But i got the hand of it!

Owned since 1999 and it's still great by marge201 ,Feb 23 '05
Pros: Easy to install, easy to use. Cons: None. It's a great machine.
I got this scanner, the HP 6300C Series, in October of 1999, along with a new computer. I finally bought a new computer a few weeks ago but the HP 6300C scanner is still here, going strong, reliable as anything, a great scanner.
I use it for EVERYTHING. I scan pictures and use HP PrecisionScan Pro. I scan documents for archive purposes using the same software. I scan documents for OCR'ing and use OmniPage Pro 12 (my computer guy gave it to me; it doesn't come with the scanner). The scanner comes with nice software, including PrecisionScan Pro and HP ScanJet Copy Utility, which I use all the time.
I see that today, 2-23-05, this scanner has 4 stars. I think it deserves 5 stars, and I bought this scanner in 1999!
Pros: Great quaility Cons: ADF seems a bit slow, but I don't often scan multiple docs.
I bought this scanner with an Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) at a computer show for $25, including a usb cable. I've had it now for a week, and the scanning seems excellent on a wide variety of documents. The ADF works just fine. It may be a little dated, but the one I picked out (the vendor had about 10) looked new. I downloaded the original software package updated to run on XP and it works just fine.
HP 6300 scanner stands the test of time by duraflex ,Oct 03 '04
Pros: Dependable machine. Excellent scanning software with lots of adjustments during scan prior to saving image. Cons: Large footprint on desk. Cleaning underside of glass is a little cumbersome.
I have had and regularly used my HP 6300 scanner for about 4 years and have enjoyed its ease of use and dependability. I appreciate the ability to adjust scan area, resolution, sharpness, brightness and color correction as the scans are made. I bought mine with as a package with sheet feeder, transparency adapter and ancillary software - including Adobe Photoshop.
