Pros: Top-shelf interior quality, taut ride and handling, supportive front seats, surprising feature content.
Cons: Complicated Euro switchgear, low rear bench, reluctant manual shifter, overly tall gearing in automatic.
The Bottom Line: Though Mazda's 3s hatch is as good or better, the Astra impresses with its nicely-detailed interior and solid road manners. Saturn's friendly dealers are now the icing, not the cake.

Cons: Underpowered, four-speed automatic, boring interior, little interior storage, odd ergonomics

Pros: Safety ratings, killer looks, performance, versatility, value, popularity, smooth ride, turbocharged, features, panorama roof
Cons: Torque steer, interior looks/feels a bit cheap, dash material feels cheap, not much more
The Bottom Line: This is a great choice if you want a sporty ride, that is looking good and still not costing a lot, while delivering premium features and good crash tests.
