Pros: A lot of equipment; a huge cardio vascular area; cheap!
Cons: No classes; lack of staff on the floor.
We belonged to Wo rld Gym for 3 years. Imagine our surprise when we walked in and discovered that World Gym was gone and Planet Fitness was there. The owners and staff for the most part have remained the same but ...

Northville Michigan Planet Fitness USED to be a nice gym

by fitboy , Jul 21 '07
Pros: Cheap. New equipment. Generally clean.
Cons: Clientele. Tiny weight room. Not welcoming to people who are serious about their fitness.
I'm a member at the Northville, Michigan Planet Fitness. Until last fall, this was an upscale gym called "Water Wheel Health Club" that had a diverse clientele that included a broad range of people with different fitness and health goals ... housewives, ...

It's meant for beginners, not experienced weightlifters

by ryanspop , Oct 05 '07
Pros: Unbeatable price; is designed for beginners; truly a Judgment Free Zone. Cheaper than most gyms.
Cons: None at all for the price.
** 10/15/07 Edit - To clarify, I am referring to the Whitehall Planet Fitness in Charlotte, NC. This particular gym is in a sizable office park and was built new as a Planet Fitness - it was not a Gold's gym prior. I am currently on the $10, no contract, ...

Cons: -No trial membership allowed, -Tacky customer service
I tried the planet fitness in Greece New York. I have some family and friends who are new to working out who recommended it to and told me it was 10 a month. For that price I didn't expect much but figured that it was worth a try. I didnt get a ...

Buyer Beware!

by ocampi901 , Aug 02 '06
Pros: Clean Facility. Cheap in price.
Cons: Cheap quality. Lightweight machines. Staff not knowledgeable or polite. Nothing beyond the absolute minimums.
Recommended test: Go to the planetfitness web site. Try to find the email address for the corporate offices. (They don't list one.) When you find the email form, send them a message - something generic like, "I have a problem with the XXX gym." See ...

NOT Judgement Free

by margrita39 , Aug 29 '07
Pros: Cheap - $10 for one location, $20 if you want to use all three.
Cons: Too JUDGEMENTAL,stupid dress code, not enough equipment, non-motivating atmosphere.
My World Gym in Colorado Springs became a Planet Fitness on July 1 - the whole thing was kept a secret until the Saturday prior to the changeover. I read the reviews on this site, so I was somewhat prepared for what I was going to encounter - but words ...

Planet Unfitness

by goodidea , May 31 '05
Pros: Inexpensive.
Cons: Focus on high volume/no service memberships, poor attitude toward good fitness and fitness goals.
This Springfield, MA location was previously a Gold's Gym. Although the gym appeared to struggle financially as a Gold's, the overall attitude of the management and the members under the Gold's regime was positive and geared toward fitness-related ...

by psistar , Jan 28 '07
Pros: cheap, free pizza 1 day/month, some kind of roll on some other day, free tootsie rolls,no contract
Cons: At least 1 gym has called the police to remove a grunter (prison guard)
That is what the owner of the new Mechanicsburg, PA gym told me as the reason why the gym has very few mirrors. "People are uncomfortable when they see themselves work out." So I commented "if all that was needed was to read a few mags then no coaches or ...

DO NOT JOIN - Breathe heavy and your membership is cancelled!!!

by phantasmo33 , Nov 02 '07
Pros: Nothing. The worst excuse for customer service and company policy I have ever heard of.
Cons: See the review and DO NOT JOIN PLANET FITNESS.
I was a member of Planet Fitness in Anchorage, Alaska for 2 days and will NEVER go back. The $19.99 monthly fee sure was enticing, the gym appeared clean, it's close to my house and other gyms in town are at least $50 a month. I signed up this past ...

I have had it with the harassment at Planet Fitness.

by dcsiren , May 29 '08
Pros: Dirt cheap membership, flexible hours, not too crowded.
Cons: Bad parking, broken mirrors, filthy facilities, corrupt owners.
I have been subjected to harassment for several months by the manager and now the owner of the Planet Fitness chain in Falls Church, VA. In fact, I am actively seeking legal representation to find out what can be done so that this will never happen to ...

Planet Fitness is HORRIBLE!

by daniellemr85 , Apr 20 '09
Pros: Large number of cardio machines, but only 3 different types: more variety is needed!
Cons: Rude and incompetent staff, no classes, not "judgement free"
I signed up for this gym in October because I wanted something different from what I was used to, but after a while it got very boring to work out there. Yeah, it was great to get to watch TV while working out, but I had to stop going. The people who ...

Cons: 1.  Piped in music - LOUD

Discrimination at Planet Fitness

by buff-daddy , May 08 '08
Pros: None
Cons: No longer being judged in the judgment free zone.
QUESTION: When is a ski-hat not a ski-hat? ANSWER: When it’s on the head of a black man, then it becomes a do-rag. I terminated my almost 20 year membership and friendship (I thought) with David DiSabato, the owner of the Planet Fitness Gym in ...

Why all the hate? I love it here (Overland Park, KS).

by vandal913 , Sep 23 '08
Pros: -price-amount of equipment-diverse crowd-clean
Cons: -could use another water fountain-need dumbbells heavier than 75 lbs.-'lunk alarm' is annoying
I see a whole lot of negative reviews for Planet Fitness, and I really don't understand. Maybe I'm just lucky to have a good location, but I've always thought it was a great place to workout for somebody such as myself, who doesn't need a bunch of ...
