Pros: DVD, brilliant strategy, consumer care Cons: less appeal to the hardcore gamer than Gamecube
Read this if you're looking for an unbiased look at whether or not you should purchase a Playstation 2
One thing I am sick of are people bashing the Playstation 2 with biased Nintendo views. This article was written to do justice for the PS2,...

Pros: Plays DVD's without adapter. Great games are rare. Top RPG system. Cons: Dozens of crappy games between million sellers. Weakest console besides DC.
November must have been the worst month in Sony history (outside of the release of Metal Gear Solid). Nintendo and Microsoft came screaming out of the gates with their two powerhouse systems. The black box made more of a threat with their games such as...

Pros: Smooth animation, fast load times, very quick memory card read/write backwards compatibility. Cons: Short supply, no new innovative controller, no hard drive or HSCDM (High Speed Cable Driver Modem) available yet.
I preordered mine back in April 2000. I'm glad I did.
I was afraid that after all was said and done, my new PS2 would not live up to my standards. It did in fact surpass what I had originally thought it could do. I have discovered that...

Pros: Wonderful graphics, fast loadup times, built in DVD player. Cons: Currently a low selection of games, difficulty in finding available systems.
The first console system I bought myself was the original Playstation, and I was more than pleased with my purchase, so when I learned of Sony's Playstation 2, I was quite eager to buy it. I preordered it last June, and was very glad I did having...

Pros: Backwards compatibility, DVD, Graphics, Controllers, Memory Cards Cons: None
I bought this baby back in the summer of 2000. I've had it for a while now and I love it to death. The entire system is beyond belief. And to top it all off, it's only $300 now. This price should be down around $200 by the end of 2001.
I love...

Pros: Lots of games, somewhat cheap now, good 3rd party support Cons: Graphics are so-so, DVD player is crap, memory cards.
I purchased a PS2 a couple weeks ago. This is the second one we have. My younger brother bought one awhile ago but he put it in his room. Well, he rented Twisted Metal Black one night and I was hooked.
Despite this being the eldest of the...

Pros: Good graphics, sophisticated gameplay, dvd playback, backwards compatible Cons: Notoriously unreliable, expensive
We had an original playstation, excellent game console. Despite it's reputation ours was rock solid. When the PS2 came out, I bit the bullet and paid the full $300 to move up. Sony was smart to build in backwards compatibility so we could use our current...

Pros: None appealing enough that make it worth buying Cons: price, quality, little difference between old console and new one
I don't really see a dramatic change between this console and the old Playstation. I mean what exactly is so great about this new console made by Sony. For one, it is nice that the console also substitutes as a dvd player, but the sound and picture...

Pros: -- Cons: --
I have to admit at the very first moment I heard of PS2, I didnt care much of the system, but then came out all the specs and what the system will include and I couldnt wait for the E3 features and the pictures. I was dazzled to see the system look so...

Pros: Some great graphics and games out at the moment Cons: The games may be great, but when are more gonna come out?
Whilst carrying the box on the Underground system in London, I was surprised to feel how heavy the blasted thing was. But that's just an aesthetic thing really, the reason for the hype wasn't because of it's looks now is it? The hype was for the power it...

Pros: DVD player, gaming powerhouse Cons: too much hype surrounding it, buyers may be disappointed if they are looking for something that surpasses anything out on the market today.
I purchased a Playstation 2 console at launch [10/26/00]. I didn't even know i was getting one until I came home. My parents surprised me with one. The next day i got it all hooked up and put in Kessen, a war-strategy game. The graphics were great, and...

Pros: The best system on the market right now. Cons: Graphics in early games will likely disapoint hard core gamers.
After spending countless hours in front of Best Buy and waiting on the internet I finally got my PS2 on month before Christmas. I quickly spent several hundred dollars on games, controllers, and memory cards. The big question in the end is, "Was it...

Pros: Sweet graphics, ps1 games, dvd player Cons: Hard to find, lack of game titles out now
Sony Playstation 2 is the machine that almost every boy and girl wanted for Christmas, Chanuka, or whatever gift giving holiday that is around now and boy-o-boy is it worth the wait. The initial release of this machine was just a few months ago and it...

Pros: Finally a decent library of games, dvd player built-in, backwards compatible Cons: Least powerful of the next gen systems, needs better OS
Well, I must say that the PS2 has come a little way since I first bought one. Some internet capability, which you don't have keep paying for ala X-Box Live. I would've liked to see more USB enabled games (Half-Life and UT were the only notables there),...

Pros: excellent games, compatibility with regular PlayStation games & hardware, plays audio CDs and DVDs, expandable Cons: noisy fan
Although it suffered, not surprisingly, from a lack of game titles when it was first launched, the PlayStation 2 game console's library has expanded to many titles as I write this (March 2002) review.
As a matter of fact, one friend bought a...
