This live action adaptation isn't worth the film it is recorded on. The plot is weak, the acting is horrible, the action is only passably decent. I know that they say an infinite amount of monkeys, writing on an infinite amount of typewriters, for an infinite amount of time will eventually reproduce the greatest works of Shakespeare. After watching this movie, I realized that they must have borrowed one monkey from the zoo, gave him a green crayon, and let him write for 20 minutes to create this script. I guess that if you have kids who aren't interested in good films, and just enjoy watching things go boom and seeing CGI action, it wouldn't be too bad for them. However, for anyone with half of a brain and any taste what so ever, this movie is truly disappointing. With absolutely nothing to redeem itself with, I give this movie a 0 out of 10. It goes down in my book as one of the few movies I've ever walked out on before the ending.

i liked the way charecters were brought back to life and it had a more to do with humans than what i thoght.i was on the edge of my seat for most of the movie

i loved the never ending war beetween the autobots and the decipticons the ending sceane was a bit to long but it was all worth it to see a classic show down between optimas prime and megatron

i personly thought it needed it bit more funny bits but i really hope there will be a sequel

Pros: I love that they keep some of the voices and story close to the cartoon.

I have tried to get my little boy into the toys, he never really got into it until the movie came out. Now its all he thinks about. I can remember watching the cartoon every afternoon. I was really surprise that they matched some of the voices also. It was a great movie, brings back my childhood. I also love that Bumble bee is and awesome are and not a girly bug car. The graphic in the movie was very smooth and the characters were perfect for the roles. The plot of the story was pretty good but was pretty much smash'em up shoot'em up. Keeps you wondering whats going to happen next. Sometimes its good to just see destruction.

Cons: the female who plays the girlfriend...didn't like her so much till the end.

People who say this film is slow getting going must be the same people who go to NASCAR races just for the crashes.
I was into this movie from the start, and I was NOT a fan of the cartoon. It has a good pace. Acting is not over the top. The robots are FANTASTIC!
Not much of a draw for females. I didn't say ALL.

Pros: Great visual effects, sound, and music.
Cons: No song and dance number good enough for Broadway, HaHa.

I am a 51 year old male who for the first time in a long time plans to go see this movie for a second time. I saw the Transformers Cartoon with my son when he was young so I figured I would give this movie a try. Both my wife and I had a great time watching this movie. From the intense side of the movie to the softer side all I can say is WOW! I am a huge fan of Sci-Fi and give this a 5 of 5 stars. Only a critic who likes musicals would give this movie anything but a good rating!

Pros: Incredible effects; worth the hype.
Cons: Story could have been better.

Anyone that has grown up with Transformers will love this movie. The transformations are amazing and so fast you wish you could pause the cinematic effects with a DVD player. Interaction with the surrounding environment is very convincing. Now, the story does get a little thin in places, and much like Star Wars relies on eye candy to cover a thin plot line. I personally had a great time watching this and my son and significant other were cheering mightily for Bumblebee and Optimus Prime.

Cons: left it a little to wide open at the end

The best movie I have ever seen, it captures the childhood feeling of the cartoon but amps it up since the people who grew up on that cartoon are in their 20's and 30's now

Transformers is exactly what its supposed to be a fun summer action movie with loud explosions, hot cars, fun and one smokin hot chick. I've read some of the negative reviews here about it being devoid of plot and character development. (There wasn't much plot in the original cartoon either.) Please save me the high brow commentary. The movie is an awesome adaptation of the original cartoon and toy. Its a movie that makes me forget that I have to return to work the next day. If I wanted something thought provoking or with great acting I certainly would not have expected it from transformers.(Though I was pleasantly surprised by Shia Lebouf's performance) If you wanna have some fun, some eye popping special effects and lots of eye candy go watch transformers. If you want something intellectually thought provoking stay home and read a book. I'm giving it five start because it is exactly what its supposed to be and makes me think of the days when I wished I could own my own Optimus Prime.

Pros: The_movies_is_packed_full_of_action_and_full_of_humor. I laughed most of the movie.
Cons: The_closing_could_have_been_written_better. It was a CHEESY setup for TRANSFORMERS II.

This movie was pure fun. I went to see this expecting some lame recreation of an 80's cartoon. However, Transformers turned out be one of the best movies this summer. (YES. I HAVE SEEN ALMOST EVERY MOVIE RELEASED THIS SUMMER.) You don't have to be familiar with the cartoon to enjoy.

Great movie, Action was a very huge part of the wow factor. Special effects....kudos, kudos, kudos. I'll be definately going to see this movie again while it is still in the theaters. I can remember the transformers when I was a kid
they were cool then and they are even cooler now. The special effects in this film were well done and made most of the scenes more realistic/believable. With a producer like Micheal Bay with (pearl harbor, armegeddeon,bad boys II) In my honest epininion these movies were class acts when it comes to special effects and raw action. Top of the list in my book. A+++ More than meets the eye, I was definately surprized, I did not expect it to be that well made and full of suspence.

Pros: Continuous action from the beginning, amazing graphics, thrilling
Cons: None.

As a Transformers fan, I thought it was awesome. The characters were not highly developed, but they were for people who already knew them.

I had high expectations walking into the theatre, and this movie exceeded my expectations.

Everyone in the theatre clapped and cheered for this film. I wanted to see it again immediately after it was over.

Pros: Big, loud, and action packed.
Cons: There's a hint of romantic subplot that doesn't get developed

I must admit, I barely remember seeing the Transformers cartoons going up. I knew about Transformers and some of the toys, but by no means have I ever been a massive Transformers fan. However, this movie has looking for a DVD set of the cartoon.

It seems everything about this movie is executed well, if not perfectly. The storyline is well written and didn't leave anyone wondering, "how did we get here?" The directing was also nicely executed. The shots were always the right length to make the movie move at the right speed.

Perhaps my only issue was that it seemed like the Decepticons always had the upper hand. Perhaps that was the way it's always been, I mean they did supposedly destroy everything that was against them while of Cybertron.

The overall experience of the was fantastic. Everything was big and loud much like you would expect a forty foot tall robot to be.

Pros: Faithfulness to the spirit of the original series
Cons: Not enough gratuitous skin shots of Megan Fox

If you were a kid in the 80's who begged your mom for Optimus Prime in his huge shiny box every time you were in Toys R Us or Gemco, this movie will give you everything you could possibly ask for in a live action adaptation. Obviously it's not "the same" as the original cartoon, but if you actually go back and watch some of those old episodes as an adult you'll be thankful that the writers smartened up the characters and dialogue.

Shia LeBoeuf is a great protagonist, and Megan Fox was well cast as "hottest girl in the universe", given that this movie was rightfully targeted at 14 - 30 year old males.
