WARNING!! Mystery Guild
DO NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THIS COMPANY!!!
I have similar problems with Mystery Guild. I am currently being billed for over $150.00 for books I did not order. I used the Internet to cancel each month's selections and all of a sudden I show this huge account balance. I had an old phone number for them which was a toll charge, but found it had been disconnected with no new number available.
How can they legally operate in this fashion? There must be a law that holds them accountable for this type of behavior!

Or even "return", any time after you get it, as long as you've glued/taped it back up. The Post Office in most areas really isn't all that picky about it. I know this from long experience... ;)

my problem is-I did return to sender un opened shippments of books-and I am still being charged for them-It is like they refuse to acknowlage that I returned anything-I don't know if its a confusion with the names or what!! I tried I really did but NO ONE at the Mystery Guild will help me-I did finally figure out how to send them a link to this review-maybe now someone will help me!

If you do become a member you just need to be very very careful-shipping is expensive and there is little customer support if there is a problem-I would stick to the bargin bins! :)

I always looked at the catalogs and thought one day I'd sign up, cause it sounded okay to me. I did have the Columbia House music club once, but never a book club. Guess I better stick to the bargain bin at the book stores.. :-)

I am a member of Mystery Guild as well and I, thankfully, haven't had any problems with them. One thing to remember: If you get an unwanted shipment, mark REFUSED-RETURN TO SENDER and don't open it! You don't have to pay any postage if you don't open it and mark that on the package. Also, send it back immediately. They shouldn't charge you for that. I've had that problem several times and I just returned it and had no problems. I, hopefully, will not have to go through the nightmare you have gone through! Best of luck in sorting it all out!

thanks for the tip-they look okay-I do like that you can do everyting online-but they also have the if you forget to say no-you automaticly get the selection of the month-but they are much more up frount about their policys than the mystery guild. thanks!

If I knew how to get them to leave me alone I would be so happy-I tried to email them at their website-I couldn't do it w/out a differnt email address, and an account number and since I don't really have an account I couldn't email them!

Getting ahold of customer service thru the mystery guild has been nearly impossible-I am going to include a link to this review in the letter I send to the collection agency-maybe then they will start paying attention to their customers.

You are so welcome! The mystery guild is one of the worst I think-Ive had problems with other clubs but nothing like the problems I had and am having with the mystery guild. If you like to read mysterys-the mystery library is a pretty good deal-they also do romance clubs-but its basicly-they send you three books-you pay for them-you can't pick and choose.

As a young Adult I had a problem like this with a Music Club and I just for the First time TODAY was considering joining this Mystery Guild and your Epinion reminded me of the Hassels I would like to avoid!!! Great Review!!
