Because I use a laptop for my work on a daily basis, the backup of daily data is also a part of my daily projects. After using the external zip drive, ZIP-100, for over two years, I finally replaced the old zip drive with the new external zip drive ZIP-250. I would like to share my opinion on this new portable zip drive.
It is just amazing to know how much this ZIP-250 has improved in comparison to their prior model ZIP-100. It is also exciting to think what IOMEGA can offer us in a few years from now. Both size and weight of the new zip drive have been reduced down by approximately 50%. Also, the new design of the small curvy shaped ZIP drive is much better than the boxy looking old ZIP-100.
The smaller size and reduced weight also made it much easier to carry it around along with my laptop. In fact, the zip drive easily fits into my laptop back. The most amazing thing about this zip drive is not only the increased storage memory size of 250MB but also the improved speed for the backing up and restoring processes.
The maximum data transfer speed for ZIP-250 has almost doubled from 1.40 MB per second (for ZIP-100) to 2.4 MB per second (for ZIP-250). It feels that the time for my daily backing up process has been significantly reduced. Also, the old ZIP100 disks can be used on this new ZIP drive.
I will recommend this portable ZIP drive to anybody who needs to frequently backup his or her work.
