I have to wonder who the ad wizards are who thought one day...I shall create a new style of disk drive, It will use a newer larger disk, in a drive not standard on computers. I will price it between 100-200 dollars, and the disks will run between 7 and 12 dollars with rebates. The Disks will hold more than your standard 3.5disk, but will not fit in the 3.5 drive slot.
Better yet, who is the computer genius who came up with that one ? (for all you kiddies out there who don't know what Beta is it was a type of tape for vcrs)
The Zip Drive is the 2nd coming of BETAMAX. STAY AWAY FROM THE ZIP DRIVE.
At almost $200, the Zip drive is a total waste of money.
The reason i state this is Zip Drives are no different than Beta was to VHS.
Zip drives- you can store programs on a zip disk that a 3.5 floppy can't. wonderful, now where are you going to put that program ? On your home computer ? I THINK NOT, not unless you are silly enough to do one of two things, buy another zip drive at 200bucks, OR unhook the entire Zip drive from the computer it was on, hook it all back up to yours and then install the file. Now when you save your work and go back to the other computer, set it all back up again and reinstall it. REAL SMART
BUY A CD writer, it doesnt even have to be a CDRW, a simple CDR will do fine.
A cd writer can cost slightly over $200.00 a pack of 50 disks will run you around $50 if you buy the generic ones. You can hold way more than a Zip disk, and better still, EVERYONE HAS CD ROMS in their computers.
So your files written to a CD are compatible with everyone.
Expect to see Zip drives for free in a few years.
Maybe even find them in antique shops, right next to the Beta VCR and the TI 99-4a.
