I remember watching the movie, "The Net" with Sandra Bullock.
There was a scene where she was lounging on the beach, with a laptop computer in her lap. I thought, "Now that is the life"!
How cool would it be to be able to take your computer with you wherever you go! Just think of all the work you could get done!
I never dreamed that I would be spending my hard-earned money on a product that seemed like such a luxury item.
Now years after seeing that movie, I am the webmaster and owner of my own website. It requires daily work to keep updated, also features several mailing lists that have to be moderated, and newsletters that must be delivered on a regular basis.
Last year my wonderful husband planned a vacation that would have us traveling to several states to visit family. This was an eleven day vacation! I jumped for joy at the thought of seeing family, and vacationing for eleven fun filled days! Then I suddenly realized that I would be away from my computer for eleven days, and panic set in.
How would I be able to send my newsletters? How would I be able to update my site? Sandra Bullock on the beach with her laptop suddenly flashed into my mind. I immediately started discussing the purchase of a laptop with my husband. He was against the idea at first, saying that I needed time away from the computer anyway, and that it was just too much money to spend.
I started researching the different brands and the features of each, and sharing my finds with him. He eventually conceded, and after we had agreed on an amount to spend, he left it up to me to do the shopping.
I narrowed my search to our price range, and went to work searching for the best deal that I could find.
I was looking for a lightweight model with CD-rom, that we could hook up to our digital camera.
I considered several brands such as Toshiba, and Compaq, but eventually chose Sony. It was highly rated, and offered a great price for the features it provided.
The PCG-F250 had all the features that I wanted, but was $200 over our price limit. I searched and searched for a deal on this model, but could not find it priced lower than $1800.00. As I was about to give up, I checked PCmall.com, and they were offering a $100.00 rebate with purchase on this model! We were able to buy it, and we are very happy with it.
This is a sturdy, attractive machine. We get compliments on it wherever we take it, and people want to try it for themselves. We have had no hardware problems, and everything is still intact. No loose parts, no broken parts, no lost parts.
Part of the reason it is still in good shape is because of the all-in-one design. It has integrated CD-rom and Floppy drives, and battery storage.
This is a low maintenance computer, which is perfect for our lifestyle.
Another great feature is the optional Lithium battery, and a weight saver that when used makes the weight less than 7 pounds. I can carry it on my shoulder with very little problem. I enjoy the touchpad very much, and prefer it over buttons that come with other models. It performs well even in heat. I have heard that some other touchpads do not function well if the laptop is hot, or if the person's hands are hot. We have had to leave our laptop in a hot car for hours before, and it performed just fine.
This is a great buy for the novice laptop user, as well as for the experienced user.
If you are considering buying a laptop computer, try this one, I think you might like it as much as we do. In our opinion it is a great value for your money.
