I too had problems with dell. I owned one for about 2 days, and felt compelled to return it for similar incompetence to that which MattM was witness. I soon found the answer: Micron. My Micron XKE laptop has been outstanding from the start. When I did have a problem (hardware problem like matt) I called at 10 pm pst. the next day at 10am pst there was a prepaid next day air ups box waiting for my laptop. got it back in 2 days!

Not only that the price was not so bad considering the numerous options I had. It was actually a refurbished sale originally, but is a sweet machine. It is well engineered runs great, with no conflicts, and the support is outstanding. the few times I did need "real" support, my average time on the phone was also well under half an hour (that includes the time I spoke to them, not just hold time!).

Quality.
