I purchased my Dell XPS series computer in August of 1999 and i haven't had one complaint. When you purchase a Dell you might be paying a little more than a gateway or a compact but believe me, it's worth it. First of all Dell includes very good components: the motherboard (the circuitry), cd-rom, dvd, and Cd-r drives are all high quality. you may run into problems with these components with other companies. not with Dell. I only know one person that has ever run into problems with a dell. his monitor broke one day so he called dell and had a new one by the following afternoon. their service is exceptional. Another feature that puts dell at the top is their service. my friend's monitor broke and he had a new one less that 24 hours later. The software that is included in the Dell package is wonderful. they include everything that someone could need for their system: Mcaffee Virus scan, microsoft office, internet software- all a person could need to start up their system. dell is the best.
