Do you participate in multiple email lists and use separate email identities in each list? IF so, don't use Agent: it doesn't handle multiple email identities. For example, you can't say, "If I respond to a message in my WindowsHelpList folder, make it 'From: Buddy Boy'" Agent allows only one email address for all email folders.
Do you check your inbox on more than one email server? If so, don't use Agent: it doesn't handle multiple servers. (You can use Hamster to emulate this feature, though.)
Are you unwilling to spend a little time to familiarize yourself with Agent and to organize how Agent handles your news and email? If so, don't use Agent: you don't get to Agent's "good stuff" unless you take a little time to understand "views" and "filters"
Do you want to read HTML right inside your email client? If so, don't use Agent: it doesn't render HTML (but you can launch it and your browser opens.)
(I like the feeling of having an email/news reader that doesn't automatically display and run any HTML and it's malicious script. I like knowing that I'm immune to any Melissa virus variant. I like knowing that spammers don't know whether or not I read their email.)
BUT...
Do you download binaries from Usenet? If so, use Agent. Agent's multi-part combining is ultra-smart can be configured to handle incorrect posts. You can assign each newsgroup it's own directory on your harddrive to hold the (ahem) pictures and (ahem) music you download. You can also teach Agent to download (immediately or later) certain posts based on a super-easy yet super-powerful filtering language.
Do you need a strong email client combined with an amazing newsreader? If so, use Agent. Agent's email client doesn't do everything, but having one program to handle your "urgent things" is really swell.
Do you enjoy programs that slow down your PC and crash constantly? If so, do NOT use Agent: Agent is the most bug-free program I've EVER used. Agent crashes an average of once every year for me. Your mileage may vary.
Do you find free support useful? If so, use Agent. There is such a rabid fan base, they've started their own newsgroup where you can get answers to your questions in about 6 hours.
