Great drive, but where are the disks?

Pros: Great Idea, Decent Price, Great portability
Cons: The 250MB Media has several problems that destroyed the drives potential.

I have had no problem whatsoever with the Iomega 100MB Drives... A couple of us have even been known to plug the serial cable in both outlets in the back of the drive and 'wear' them around with us at work... Very easy to install, use, and remove...
So, now that the 250 is out, that would be even better, right?
WRONG!! At least not in my opinion... I've had a lot of trouble with the availability of the 250MB media, and once I do find it, I've had many problems with the media itself... I have no doubt that the hardware is good, but, like with the ill-fated LS-120 (they SAID it could read 1.44's too, but it doesn't always), the media itself (the actual 250MB disks) don't live up to the product.
Especially know that CD-RW's are out... CD-RW's aren't as much in the way of portability, but each CD holds 650MB. Not bad compared to 100, or even 250.
If you have use for a removable media, I would recommend the 100MB Zip drives, if that's enough space for you... If not, there are actual removable hard drives, and also the CD-RW. While the 250 MB Zip Drive SOUNDED like a good idea, (and perhaps should have been) I think that technology passed it up a bit quickly. Combine that with the media problem, and you come up with a peice of equipment that really didn't have a chance to live it's full life. But that's the industry...
Bottom Line: If you can find the 250 MB Disks, you're liable to have problems with them. The actual hardware is good, but stick with the 100... if actual movement from computer to computer is not an issue, use a CD-RW. They aren't that much more expensive, the hold more, and it takes less space to store them. And I've had a lot less problems with CD's than I have with the 250MB Zip Disks.
