| bobilou's Full Review: IBM PC Camera Webcam |
I work in an office supply store which allowed me to ponder for several weeks the PC Camera I wished to purchase. After consulting other employees and comparing the other cameras in my target price range I finally decided on an IBM PC Camera.
I was impressed with the ease of setup and the abundance of supporting software that came with the unit. I also noted it to be a sturdy piece of equipment that would survive the rigors of college dorm life. Then I used the camera.
I discovered quickly that in order to obtain a picture with any clarity requires a perfect level of lighting not possible with any configuration of lamps, curtains, and lights that I have tried. I also find it difficult to focus the camera due to the looseness of the focusing apparatus.
Overall I am somewhat disappointed with my purchase. While it serves the purpose of capturing the antics of my friends and provides a new toy to augment my ever-growing collection of peripherals, the IBM PC Cam I purchased is an item that I wish I had opted not to buy. Instead I would recommend the perspective PC Camera buyer to research the competitors' products and to spend a little extra money on a less disappointing piece of equipment.
