ALL RIGHT THAT'S ENOUGH

5 rules to a gamers machine:
I just read 15 reviews about gamer's PC's and I must say that there is a wide spread of recommendations. I build high end custom built PC's everyday. One thing is for sure, by the time you read this, a look at my system will show half of the parts will be surpassed by the next generation of components.
Rule Number #1
Buy the best PC you can afford today. Its already out of date but by the time you can afford to get another one you will have to replace 75% of the components due to the manufacturers controlling the market to generate new hardware sales. Can we say AT cases and want to buy an ASUS ATX Motherboard?
Rule Number #2
Video is everything, your PC is only as fast as what is put in front of you on the monitor. Never cut back here.
Rule Number #3
What is the slowest part of your PC that is used everytime you turn it on? The harddrive, Its also the only part to use a moving mechanical component. The faster the better, for the average user - 7200rpm UDMA 66, for the advanced user - 10000rpm UW SCSI 3. Beware there is more to SCSI than meets the eye, do your homework.
Rule Number #4
Ram and CPU, I won't split this up as they both can be categorized the same, More, Better, Faster. I generally split the CPU's into groups, PII , K6 - 3, Celeron, and the PIII , Athlon. There is a very big price difference in these groups as well as performance. This is generally covered in rule #1. As far as ram goes 64meg is the minimum.
Rule Number #5
Case / Motherboard, one goes hand in hand with the other. I don't sell $15.00 cases because my customers want a high quality product. I won't sell a $50.00 motherboard because I want my PC's to be running in 9 month's. Find a fast motherboard with a known brand on it, go to their website and see how they do support. Here is a few, ASUS, QDI, FIC, INTEL. Bios flashes are only a few mouse click's away. Read a few review's on the motherboard. WARNING - Don't by a motherboard with anything integrated unless it can't be helped. If a component fails or needs to be upgraded you don't want to buy another computer. As far as the case goes make sure it is expandable. More drive bays the better and it has a solid feel. A 230watt power supply or larger is a must.
OK here it is:
Intel PIII 550
FIC VB-601 Motherboard
128 meg PC100 RAM
Viper 770 32 meg TNT2 AGP
56K Jumpered Modem (Not Soft)
Sound Blaster Live Sound Card
3COM 10/100 3C905B Network Card
Quantum 7200rpm UDMA 66 13gig HD
AOPEN 48X CD-ROM
1.44 Floppy
Zip Drive
Enlight 7237 M3 Case
17" Monitor (Trinitron Tube)
This PC should run somwhere around $1200.00 and run anything on the market with the upgradability to carry you for the three year turnaround
