HomeComputers & InternetPC DesktopsWhat Should I Know About Cybermax Desktops in General?

Good value, spotty support

Mar 14 '00

I should begin by saying that I believe that Cybermax offers reasonable quality computers at prices which are more than competitive with their better known rivals. This clearly is a big plus.

I suspect, however, that this is a company which has therefore seen its sales surpass its tech support system.

Reaching tech support was far easier two years ago than it has been recently. It is annoying when one's computer is down to be put on hold for an hour or so. It is even more irksome at various times of year to hear the same recording stating that the reason for the delay is that this is a busy time of year.

The tech support staff is unfailingly polite, but getting a knowledgeable
technician seems to be luck of the draw. Some seem to be able to diagnose problems and walk the customer quickly through the solution. Others pause after each step, ask the customer to hold "for a second",
and return many minutes later, apparently after consulting a manual or a superior.

The company does live up to the letter of its warranty, nothing more, nothing less.

I think I would recommend the company easily to those who can troubleshoot their own computers. I am reluctant to do so for those who are new to computers and more likely to need frequent tech support.
