Wireless email in the park. Email in you car. Email on vacation. Email anywhere!
Shortly after getting the cables necessary to connect my Palm III to my Qualcomm QPC-860, I was eager to get online wirelessly. (See my other reviews for how I did this). After all, isn't wireless email in the park, in the car over lunch, etc, just the coolest thing? :)
I tried out many Palm email clients, and after playing with them, I finally settled on MutliMail Pro. MultiMail Pro offers just about every feature found in a full blown desktop mail client.
I won't list every feature offered by the program, but I will highlight the ones I find the most useful:
Multiple SMTP and POP3 configurations are allowed. This is the feature most Palm email clients don't support. There are places on the web to set up free POP3 mailboxes, so you can setup and use several different ones for different purposes.
Filters for sorting or deleting messages. Using these properly can help you speed up your mail downloading time
Able to download just headers so you can later pick and choose which message bodies you want to download. This is great for saving on wireless airtime.
Able to view attachments via plugins: ie, HTML, GIF, JPEG, Word, etc. You can even get a plugin that will let you install Palm PRC/PDB files via email.
There aren't many things I don't like about this mail client, but there are a couple I should mention. The footprint for this client, at about 200k, is larger than some others. The application locks up on me from time to time, but of course, that could just be a bug with my Palm III, and not the software.
In summary, if you're going wireless, use a modem, or like to download POP mail to your Palm from your desktop, you can't get much better than MultiMail Pro.
