Gateway's service was WONDERFUL...right up until the order-taker hung-up the phone! My computer was over three weeks late, and when I would call to check on my shipping status, every other person would give me a different answer. I got flat-out lies, ranging from "I show that your system has already been shipped", to "your system is in testing right now" the very next day. If I hadn't been so persistent, I don't think it would have ever been shipped at all. Two months after we finally received the computer, it crashes, and three "techs" cant figure-out why there is "no operating system found". I, who am for the most part, computer illiterate, was "guided" through taking my computer apart, pulling-out drives, cards, wires...you name it. I was so nervous that I would touch the wrong part, and mess-up the computer even more, when I drop one of the screws into the computer, and the "tech" says "opps, hope you didn't ruin the whole thing". Why am I inside the computer to begin with? Isn't that why I paid for "on-site tech service"?. I was finally told that a new ultra bios card would be on the way. I waited, and waited. Did I miss the postman again I would think. Three weeks went by, and when I called Gateway, Surprise, surprise, there was no record of any part being ordered. When the computer was finally fixed, (four ultra cards later) I thought my problems were over. A year later the EXACT same thing happens to my computer, and now the "techs" decide that it is my hard drive, and assure me that one is on the way. Once again, three weeks later, no part. When I called I just could have shot someone when I was told once again, that they had no record of a part on order. (Now keep in mind that after one year my on-site service is up), I ask to speak to a supervisor, I am livid, He says " I have never heard of this happening before ( I told him I have! To me!!), would you like me to send a tech out to install it?". I cant believe it, a sign of good-will, was it all a honest mistake, and they are trying to make things better. WRONG! "Oh, I see your year has expired", "you will have to install it yourself". Thank you for absolutely nothing Gateway! I may be only one small person, buying only one computer for my home, but they better believe I have told everyone that I know, and even people that I don't know about Gateway, and their products & service. I will never again do business with them, and I hope no one else does either! You don't need the head ache!
