Firetalk was extremely easy for me to figure out. I heard about through word of mouth from a stranger on the internet. Right after they told me about it I downloaded it & have been using it ever since. One of the nicest features is when you log on for the first time you're automatically dropped into a tech support room where the support people explain the system to you. It's so much fun that there are quite a few "regulars" who just stay in the support room & chat & help out when they can.
I've been using firetalk for a few weeks & I really enjoy it. First of all where else on the net can you go into a forum where the help staff actually KNOW YOUR NAME & REMEMBER that you've been there before??!!!
I must say a big hello to CS BIGAL who is one of the longest winded CS's on the site but also one of the friendliest. He's notorious for 10 minute sermons on the nature, nuture & necessities of firetalk.
Now a days I don't know why anyone with a computer would be bothered with a long distance phone call to a family member??? It baffles the mind when you can both hook up with firetalk & chat long distance for free.
Although I must admit that this system can "seem" quite intricate to beginners it is one of the easiest telephony systems to log onto. It's also fun to talk to people around the world!! I love the way that there is actually a little picture of a telephone to the side of someone's name & when you click on it you get a message that you are "calling" so & so & when you get a call your computer actually rings. Download the program & try it out after all it's free!!
Firetalk is a nice place to go when you get tired of the profanity on other voice chat sites such as yahoo. Firetalk staff do not permit that at least not in their tech support rooms. Some people have a problem with that and call it censorship. I call it setting a high standard for behavior. I haven't logged on to Firetalk in a long time but it's nice to know that when I do I know they will continue to make sure that everyone who logs on will have a relatively safe, friendly environment to come to. To the people who have problems with Firetalk's code of conduct I truly feel bad. If you can't get a long with people in that environment the offline world is going to prove to be a tough place to be.
There are so many other sites where you can go & spout off whatever you like. It's nice to know at least on Firetalk they have some sort of moral standard.
