We have purchased two of these for use in our business and have had them slightly over one year. We tried three other brands previously and were not pleased with them. Both of these have been excellent machines with few problems.
IBM's excellent support policies make any problems seem insignificant. Our experience with them would place IBM at the top of the list. We experienced a modem problem with one of them. The other experienced a blank screen several months ago.
In both cases, we were on the road working. We called Tech Support and they sent out a special box via Airborne the next day with a pre-addressed label. We placed the machine in the box while Airborne waited and they took it with them. It was returned two days later (in both cases). While it was in the shop they checked them out and gave us a inspection slip indicating they had been checked out. They also upgraded to the latest BIOS. The modem was replaced in the first one and a loose connection was tightened in the second one. We are entirely pleased with both of them.
The only negative note would be a short battery life. Incidentally, as an owner you can purchase accessories at a very attractive price direct from IBM. If support is important - we believe that IBM is the only choice.
