Pros: Excellent drawing capabilities, ability to change from drawing to mouse mode and adjust tablet ratio Cons: Weird problem with auto-hide taskbar
I am a graphic and website designer who has an illustration background. I wanted more flexibility in my computer aided drawings, so I decided to purchase an Intuos Tablet (9 x 12") and I can't believe how wonderful it is!
First, the...

Pros: More accurate then a mouse for graphics work Cons: The side skirts need to be a little bigger, and the pen still needs to be a little larger
My first tablet was a Wacom 6x8 serial cable. It broke down in about a year’s time, then pen was uncomfortable, and the pen kept breaking.
I wanted a new tablet, something smaller, I chose the Wacom Intous 4x5. I found that I don’t use a...

Pros: variable sizes, ease of use, product support Cons: it won't morph you into a master artist just because you've bought it ;)
I am IN LOVE with my Wacom Intuos tablet.
Like B.B. King's guitar, I have named it Lucille. I love it that much.
The Intuos brings all the ease of using traditional media into conjunction with the flexibility & speed of digital...

Pros: Works Well Cons: Commonly causes Memory Problems
I have purchased Wacom products since 1995. I have owned several tablets,
one even surviving a fire! They are well made products, and they do
what they say that they do and more. When you really need to draw
without having to scan,...

Pros: Makes graphics work SO much easier. Cons: Can't replace a mouse.
To explain the title, I had been pondering one of these objects of desire for months. My interest in fantasy art was waning, as I couldn't keep up with the beautiful computer-coloured images I saw on the web, using just a mouse. The Australian price was...

Pros: Essential for artists! Cons: Not having one!
Some things tend to sell themselves. The Wacom Intuous is one of them.
One, you can't possibly expect to draw anything useful with a mouse. A mouse is not going to be pressure sensitive in Photoshop or Painter or better graphics programs, and...

Pros: sensitive, comes in many sizes, detachable stylus Cons: expensive, easy to lose stylus
This graphic tablet is by no means cheap. The whole wacom series is EXPENSIVE. But the payoff and the quality of this product far exceeds that of the price. I promise you that purchasing this will product will produce pictures just as though you were to...

Pros: Ease of use/setup Cons: a little expensive
I was one of those people who, for years, used a mouse. Then I tried a trackball and discovered a whole new world to working on my computer. Recently, I made a trade with a friend for a 9 x 12 Wacom Tablet in trade for a Nikon 950 Digital Camera. Once...

Pros: Good quality Cons: Takes up an outlet
I have a Wacom Intuous 4" X 5", as well as a Wacom Penpartner 4" X 5" (I actually have 2 Penpartners, 1 doesn't work, the other I have on my laptop). Although the penpartner series is cheaper (about $50 less), it seems to be better....

Pros: cordless, pressure sensative, true PnP Cons: tips wear out on pen, kinda takes up a lot of space.
Okay, here is my situation, I've used a right handed mouse ever since the first day i touched a comuter, that is what i'm comfortable with, that is what i know how to do. I've tried more than once to reverse the training and use a left handed mouse, and...

Never use a mouse again!
by bellakitty74 ,Apr 25 '05
Pros: No hand pain like mouse, easy to use Cons: occasional glitches, can be pricey for average user
As a graphic designer, I've been using Wacom tablets since 1998. I've never used a mouse since.
They are great for navigating everything on my computer. I've never had that pain in hand since dropping a mouse and I'm on the computer at least 10 hours a day/7 days a week.
It takes about a week to get used to but make sure you adjust the control panel to optimize your usage. You'll never know how you survived with out it.
My only complaint is that there are sometimes unexplainable glitches in the software or USB connection. Just reinstall or unplug and plug it back it. Annoying when it happens but it is a machine after all.
Also, bigger is not better in my opinion. I use the 6X9. The larger ones make it cumbersome to use and the smaller ones are too small to graphics but may work for home use.
