Thinkpad doesnt Think

I recently purchased a Thinkpad I Series 1472 Notebook. The CD-Rom came back with an error the very first hour after use. Then after a final breakdown the next day I returned the unit just to get another TP with the same problem. Must be a flaw in the design or drivers. Bad sound quality, hate the mouse thing, no docking station for expansion, slower proformance. DVD was pretty good, but choppy at times. Was able to play cd's without booting computer, but the sound quality sucks, so why waste money , but a walkman.
