| erick's Full Review: Lapworks Laptop Desk Notebook Cooler & Tray Stand ... |
With the new high-speed CPUs in today's laptops, you really can't use a notebook/laptop on your lap without discomfort from the heat generated -- unless you have one of these. The Lap Desk is a great accessory for people who like to compute in bed or places where they don't have a desk available (like if you are waiting in an airport). The Lap Desk not only helps you to use your notebook on your lap, but also gives you better ergonomic support when you are using it on a desk.
The Lap Desk is a plastic device that folds in half, when you unfold it, it becomes a ventilated workspace area that you can comfortably put on your lap and is large enough to hold all notebooks. It has rubber gripping surfaces that will prevent your notebook from slipping off your lap.
When you fold it, you can put it at different angles and it serves as a stand for your laptop on your desk.
You can view these various configurations on the Lap Works, Inc website at www.lapworksinc.com.
Until I started using the Lap Desk, I didn't realize how much easier it is to use a notebook with this. When it's elevated at an angle, not only is it easier to type on, but because the screen is higher, it's easier to see without having to hunch over. In addition, by using it as a desk stand, the notebook is better ventilated so the internal fan comes on less creating less noise.
The product itself is very durable and made of a polycarbonate plastic. It weighs less than 1.5 lbs and folds into a small enough shape to fit in most notebook bags.
I haven't used it too much on my lap but it also has the option to add a mousepad attachment in case you need more space.
The only thing I would want would be a smaller version for people who use mini-notebooks and don't need the bigger size.
If you are always on the go and find that you really need to use your "lap" top... I highly recommend this product. And even if your notebook never moves, this makes a really great desktop stand and helps ventilate your notebook so it runs at peak speeds. Since I've started using it at work, my notebooks is never off of it. No matter how you use it... you will be very satisfied with it and it will keep both your "laptops" cool.
