Need more RAM?

Mar 11 '01

The Bottom Line You can never have enough RAM, so make sure that you can get as much as you can. It cost less than $1.00 for each mb.

First things first, RAM stands for Random Access Memory. What RAM does is that it lets u access faster, and it lets you run more programs at once. The more RAM that you have the better. If you don't know how to install RAM, I have created a list of easy steps that will help you.

1) Find out what kind of memory slots that you have, either SIMM or DIMM.

2) Go buy the amount of RAM that you need. Most average computers have 128mb's of RAM.

3) Before you install make sure your touch a metal surface, so that you wont have static to mess up the computer.

4) Open the clover, and find where the RAM slots are.

5) If your are adding more RAM to your existing RAM, make sure that you put it in an empty slot.

6) There should be locks on both sides of the slot. Make sure that you release them.

7) Put the RAM in slot, also make sure that it's facing the right way. If you don't know the right way, look at the old chip and see which way it's facing.

8) Once you have put the chip in, make sure the that it's locked by both sides.

9) Boot up computer and the computer will automatically change the settings for you.

10) Enjoy a new and improved computer.
