Pros: None that I could use
Cons: Does not produce usable audio CDs
The Bottom Line: I have no idea whether this unit would produce usable VCDs, because I never got that far. It will NOT produce audio CDs that will play on normal CD players.

| otherchip's Full Review: Teraoptix TERAPIN Stand-Alone CD Video Recorder CD... |
I bought this unit at Sam's Club for $199, for the sole purpose of transferring my LP collection onto CD-Rs. I have been doing this with my computer, but the process is laborious and I was hoping for an easier, faster method.
My first problems occurred with the auto-track-increment feature, which did not work at all. It inserted track markers in the middle of songs, didn't insert track markers between songs, and once caused the recorder to shut down in the middle of a recording session.
Once I had a finalized CD, I was in for another shock. The CD would not play in any of my 5 CD players. Although it would play in the Terapin, none of the other players would recognize it. As I mentioned, I currently create audio CD-Rs with my computer and have no trouble playing them in these same CD players, so it is not an issue with the players being CD-R capable - they are. Just to make sure it wasn't a fluke, I recorded and finalized another audio CD-R with the Terapin and got the same results.
Needless to say, I returned the unit to Sam's and they happily refunded my money.
