| knightri's Full Review: Cingular Mobile Phone Service in Providence |
When starting my business I was in the market for a low-cost cellular service. With little revenue and no prior cell phone experiences, the Cingular rollover plan seemed to offer the best deal. In the end, I've gotten what I pay for....
I operate a delivery service. Since I am on my own, and on the road most of the day, cellular service is extremely important to my business. I have discovered that there are several areas in Rhode Island that I call 'dead spots', i.e. no signal areas.
Woonsocket, Lincoln (especially Breakneck Hill Road), Jamestown and Foster are the worst towns for phone connections. The signal in Foster is virtually non-existent and in Woonsocket it is extremely weak and sporadic. Jamestown and Lincoln are similarly weak and dropped calls are more the norm than any good connections there.
When my customers call, they are looking for near immediate attention and service. It is embarrassing how many times I have to ask them to hold the phone while I stop my vehicle and roll into a decent cell. 'Can you hear me now?'
In the 6 months I've had this phone service I have learned that signal availability is far more important than price. When my contract is up I will most certainly change to a provider that will likely cost more, but will offer a better signal throughout the state. You get what you pay for is more than a cliche...it is the truth.
