Kohls Online - Save a trip to town - Buy basics here.

We dont have Kohls around here, so the name was not familiar when I saw it online. My buddy Moose wrote a review of Kohls some time back (Review at: http://www.epinions.com/content_84713639556 ), and I made a mental note to check it out some time. When the store popped up on a deal site with a special sale going down, I decided to give it a go.
The store I would compare it to around here is Goodys. They have good brand name clothing and some other items at good prices like Goodys. Examples would be that they carry towels and bedding items that are nice but not real expensive. Im guessing that they carry more at brick and mortar stores, but they dont have all kinds of choices online. These are the basics and with especially good sales at the end of the season.
The biggest section is clothing for women including also a few things for petite, plus, and maternity. If you need something hard-to-find like a swimming suit with better support in the chest, forget it. On the regular size section they run about 100 or so items including pants, shorts, shirts and so on. Many of the items are the staple items youd buy like solid color shirts to go with lots of other clothes in the drawers or closet.
The main area that I shop is for the boys. Though they dont have a huge number of different items, they do have a good list of sizes. If I go to shop in town here, I can almost never find the larger sizes for little boysthe 16, 18, 20s. I guess these guys are just not so little now. Kohls does have a good range again in the basics, so I can get jeans, khakis, shorts, swimming trunks and in the sizes I want without going all over town.
Another section that I like now is the school uniform section. We just got a letter last month that my oldest will need to wear uniform items. Kohls had what I needed and at great prices. I hit a sale for example and got the light blue shirts with no logo (cant wear them to school with logo) for $6.99 rather than double that around here. These are just the golf shirt items that can go really high if you end up at Belks where they are over the top of prices.
All the clothing from Kohls has been very nice. Its not fancy stuff, but these are items that can be washed and washed and worn and worn. The quality is really great. I have not one complaint on anything sent to my house.
The only problem I have had with Kohls is that they cant handle really high net traffic. If you fill the cart and then cant push the order through, then the items just disappear. The last time I ordered, I tried three times to go from shopping cart to check out and could not. Since they dont have a huge list of items, its fairly easy to remember the items and find them again and put them back in the cart, but that is a pain.
Kohls does have a phone number if you run into problems. I did get my cell phone and call when I kept having problems getting the order to stick and then could not get to check out. After a whale of a lot of options that did not apply, I was able to talk to a person who did take my order by phone and then plugged it back into the web site which then gave me all the information on email. The customer service guy was very personable and nice and though I would rather just do this shopping stuff online and not call, it was not a huge deal.
If you order over $75, then you get free shipping. That makes a huge difference if you shop a lot online. When I can order a lot of basics at one space like I can at Kohls, Ill stock up and hit that free ship mark. They do add taxor they do in my state. The estimate they use is 6 percent, and its a bit higher here. I can guess that it will be a dollar or two higher than what I see online. They have a note about that, so Im not shocked when I get the bill. I know the tax rate here.
Though I would not rank this the best site Ive ever used, I do use them. They have good prices and good quality. If you have problems, you can find the phone number and can get a real person to help out. Im guessing that this site will continue to improve and will rate up 5 star soon. They have the right idea. They just need to expand a little to support high traffic when they have a good sale on good stuff that will pull folks in line who like to shop online for these great basics and avoid a trip to the mall where it will be way more work and way more money.
