30GB model has been released.
Cons: SD/MMC cover!
The Bottom Line: The MamboX was the only 30GB, besides the Apple iPOD in Australia, and supports SD/MMC cards so I can upload all my photos when traveling from my digital camera.

Wow!
I have been looking for a hard drive based mp3 player for the past 6 months. I stumbled on this unique player at mp3direct in Sydney last week.
The sales guy was pushing the Creative range like the Nomad Jukebox 3 and the Nomad Zen. When comparing the 3 players, the MamboX stood out of the crowd with the most features.
Installing the player was too easy. Plugged the USB connector and Windows said found new hardware and installed it without asking for any drivers.
The players acts like an external hard drive, so it's very easy to use and navigate. Using Windows explorer I dragged and dropped my mp3 folders across in minutes.
The player also has a line-in for direct encoding. So out came my old vinyl, and started encoding my records. The players allows you to encode in low or high encoding. So I went straight for the high encoding which is 160Kbps.
Now the microphone built into the unit is pretty sensitive, and only uni-directional. Forget about using it for recording seminars. Since the mic is built into the player, you will notice you will pick up noise ftom the hard drive.
The other feature is that it has a SD/MMC slot, which I have taken advantage of while traveling. Since I have a Panasonic digital camera, which uses SD cards I can upload all images directly to the player without the need of a computer. So I carry only 1 SD card and my 30GB MamboX Photobank Jukebox.
The only thing I found annoying about the player was the SD/MMC flap. It's made out of rubber and is pretty hard to open and close. So I keep it semi opened all the time.
The battery life isn't as good compared to other HDD based players. I could only get aout 5 hours, a bit shy of the 8 hours as stated on MamboX's website. But thats fine I mainly use it at home and in the car.
