Kaanapali Villas is worth it

Pros: Quiet part of Kaanapali Beach, Kitchens in rooms, Quiet Area not near the big resorts
Cons: Only one restaurant near hotel, must drive or take trolley for other restaurants
The Bottom Line: It is in an area that is not right next to the main resorts, so the beaches are not that crowded. Plus you are in Hawaii.

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Kaanapali Villas in Aug for six days. We got an oceanview studio room with a kitchenette. These rooms are timeshares and they rent out the rooms to tourists like us when the owners are not using their timeshares. We decided to pay extra for the oceanview room over the gardenview room. Our room was definitely closer to the ocean than the garden rooms, but we really couldnt see the ocean from our room. The room was facing the pool, with the ocean to the far right. Other rooms had magnificent views of the beach and ocean, with the room sitting a few feet from the beach, and i think those rooms cost way more. Other rooms offered by the villas include standard hotel rooms without kitchens, these are located in another 5 story building next to the studio rooms. Overall our time at the Villas was quite enjoyable. The room was spacious and clean. The kitchen was a definite added bonus, since we did not want to eat out every meal and having a kitchen meant we could have our own breakfast and sandwiches whenever we wanted, in the comfort of our own room. The staff was friendly and polite. The concierge was very nice and helpful with planning activities. A rental car is a must, since Lahaina (the major town with a ton of bars and restaurants) is a 15 min drive away. Kaanapali beach wasnt nearly as crowded as Lahaina beach. So Kaanapali is a nice area to stay at to avoid large crowds of vacationers. I would return, just as soon as I can save up enough money to go again.
