How can Canon make a printer this good for the price? Not only is it reasonably fast and quiet it does a nice job. The setup was a little slow, mostly setting up the software and removing the tape from the printer but the printer does a wonderful job.
I got the printer for $180 from Dell4Me.com and didn't have any real problem. My 3 year old thought the delivery man was Santa Claus and was real exited about the printer since it is just delivered in the printer box. (Not good for a gift delivery.) Set it up a few days later and printed some photos taken with a Kodac LS443 camera. I have not been happy with this camera as I think the image quality is poor, but I have to say the printed photos were so good it is shocking! The Canon printer drivers seem to help a lot and it is probably about as close as one can get to photo printed by a photo service. WOW! I have a Canon S45 on order and I can't wait to see how those photos come out.
One concern I have is the cost of ink. The estimates are about 30 pages for one set of inks. At $12 dollars a color that is $72 a set. $2+ dollars a page isn't cheap. However, there are a lot of compatible inks available on Ebay and they run about $2 a color. I don't know if I'll get the same great results, but even if the printer were destroyed, it is only $180 after getting at least 120 great photo out of it.
How can Canon make something so good so cheap?
