| techie007's Full Review: Sprint Mobile Phone Service in New York |
When I moved to NYC, I got sprint service based on the advice of my brother who has been living in NYC for sometime. I didn't know any better. Now I do.
From the beginning, people I talk to are constantly saying "can you talk louder? I can't hear you." So whenever I am in public speaking on my phone, I am always shouting and I'm sure it appears as if I am arguing with someone. Clearly the reception is anything but "free and clear," but rather "encumbered and garbled," but this is probably a less marketable phrase for Sprint.
Also, many of my calls don't ring when my phone is on and often they go straight to voice mail. I contacted sprint about this problem and they instructed me to go to a Sprint store where they said my phone had failed some sort of software test and they replaced the phone with a refurbished one. Unfortunately, the problem remained.
For calls lasting more than 10-15 minutes, I frequently drop calls. This happens almost every 4th phone call and in Brooklyn and Manhattan.
Now, I do not live in the boonies where these problems may be understandable. I live in Brooklyn! Even from my home, I get only 1-2 bars of reception where I have seen other people with other services get the full 5 bars. This is a complaint I have heard from almost all other current and previous Sprint users. I don't know how the coverage is in other cities, but Sprint is to be avoided in NYC.
