I was disappointed and frustrated with Intergate

I also signed up for Intergate per the Kim Komando newsletter ad. After 2 days, I was able to sign on, but unable to access any of the 6 email accounts that I opened for about 24 hours.
Intergate limits you to 200 hours, and only 8-hour sessions. If you want a constant connection, this isn't for you. Using 'ping' software is a breech of contract.
Another commenter said that the only way to cancel is to do it in writing and include a credit card number. They must have changed that because I was able to cancel online after I requested the instructions from customer service.
What really ticked me off is that when I was unable to access email it was Friday evening. I called customer service and waited for so long that I decided to hang up and fill out a "service ticket" on their website. I did, however, opt to leave a voice message with customer service in which they assured would be answered as soon as possible. I never heard back from them.
Anyway, about the service ticket. Because my username and password weren't being accepted to view emails, they also weren't accepted to fill out a service ticket. It took me a few hours to find another link (on the sign-up page) where I could contact customer service via email. I was so frustrated that I cancelled my account as soon as they gave me the link to do so.
So my rating is based on reliability. I have an online business that I cannot afford to miss emails. I've noticed that most low-priced internet services have the 200 hour limit--so that's something to watch for.
Also, the time it took to sign on was about 5 times as long as my regular carrier (MSN), and I kept getting booted off of Intergate at about 2 hour intervals.
I couldn't recommend this provider in good conscience. If you decide to go with them anyway, READ THE TOS FIRST!
Some plusses they do have:
- Unlimited POP email accounts that can also be accessed via the website (except in my case, not at all)
- Personal webspace
- Pop up blocker
- Spam blocker
- Because there is not intricate interface (like AOL or MSN Explorer) you have to set up the dial-up connection manually, which is easy. However, if you're not comfortable with doing it yourself you can get their 2-minute download to do it for you. Beware, it changes your start page.
