I bought this printer almost 2 years ago...was excited to get rid of my old one as it was too slow. I am an artist and need to see my work accurately represented on paper.
When this printer works, the results are amazing...the color is perfect and resolution is fantastic...gradations and texture show up perfectly. However, I've found most print job results are unpredictable...in my experience using this printer, I've had the most trouble with the black cartridge which seems to clog even when the printer is being used constantly. It's extremely frustrating as ink, paper and most importantly, TIME is money.
For example: On one print job I'll get perfect results. Print again, and the black areas are either uneven, spotty or there's too much black that bleeds out of the area, causing a circle to look like a splat.
As a side note, I attempted to use a generic type of ink for this model to save some money but ended up tossing the barely used cartridge due to constant clogging every time. Now I only use Epson brand ink for this printer. This was my own experiment and I do not count it as an Epson flaw.
Also, I can honestly say that this printer wouldn't be a good all-around type of machine...I almost wish I'd kept my cheaper/slower one for printing documents unrelated to art/photography.
Of course it does help to clean the the jets (this is done through the computer commanding the printer to do this), but in the process, more paper and ink is used.
Next printer will probably be a different brand...I'm weary of dealing with an unpredictable machine and even irritated that I'm used to it at this point. For the $$$ I shelled out at the time, I expect accurate and clean results EVERY time...I do not think this is an unfair product expectation.
