KYYS 99.7 is the final word in classic rock in the Greater Kansas City area. They also operate their own website allowing you to listen to their show while you sit at your computer working. www.kyys.com
Starting at the top of their site is a direct link to listen to their show. I have listened to many radio stations online that take forever to load, and then break up in the middle of your favorite tune. Not a problem here. I have yet to have a problem keeping the music flowing perfectly.
Next on the site you will find KY's A to Z- all the songs fit to alphabetize! This is a full list of every rock song that they have ever played along with the artist who performed the song. Need to know who performed the song "I need a lover". Just scroll down to the song and you will find it was performed by John Mellencamp.
Scroll down the site and next you come to Today's Rock News where you can find out what classic artist is in the news and why. Makes for some very interesting reading.
You will also find an area that allows you to play a few simple games, check out concert information, pictures of the DJ's, and some great music links.
Hopefully by this time I have given you enough information that you will check out this site and give the station a listen. If not, then let me tell you a bit about the morning show DJ's.
From 5:30 to 10:00 in the morning the station has Max, Tanna, and Moffitt at the helm. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame DJ, Max Floyd, is the ringleader of this crazy trio. Max runs a contest on the show called you can't win that has listeners calling in to try and answer 5 nearly impossible questions. Only after the first question is answered, which can take weeks, will you get the second question. The winner of the contest is the contestant that can correctly answer all 5 questions. Listen in at 9:00 in the morning and see if you can answer the question.
Tanna Guthrie gives you all the crazy news in the world that is worth reporting. She spends a great deal of time trying to talk her fellow male DJ's into doing crazy stunts, but is also the voice of reason on the show.
Larry Moffitt finishes off this early morning trio. He takes care of letting you know what is happening in the world of sports. If one of the group goes out in the world to pull off a crazy stunt, Moffitt is the one that will end up arrested. I believe he is still un-welcome in Olathe Kansas.
So all said and done, why do I listen every morning to the morning show hosted by Max, Tanna, and Moffitt? Very simply put, they keep me laughing. They never cross the line of what would be good taste, well maybe a bit, but not too far. And when a crisis arises in the Kansas City area, they are first to rally support for those in need. These 3 are a true institution in Kansas City.
So tomorrow while you are sitting at your computer at work or home and need to hear classic rock music, just type in www.kyys.com and enjoy the ride.
