Pros: Quality images, superior performance and breathtaking results.
Cons: If I redesigned the ink tanks,an additional black ink tank would be worthwhile.
The Bottom Line: If you are looking for quality, Canon offers it in this high end photo printer. The results make the investment, worthwhile. Quality results is everything in a printer.

This is the Canon upgrade to the i950 series printers. It follows the line of printers that has the Canon Think Tank System of individual ink tanks coupled with a management system.
The i960, like the i900D, have six tanks. It follows the path of the i560, i860 series, only increasing the number of tanks. The results are breathtaking with the addition of the two Photo series ink tanks. These being the BCI-6PC Photo Cyan and BCI-6PM Photo Magenta.
This printer only supports a USB connection however has two slots for USB and USB 2.0 High Speed connection. Traditional parallel ports are being phased out and this technology will disappear in the next five years.
I have used the old series of HP DeskJet printers in the past that have both the print head and ink tanks built in the same unit. When the print head malfunctions or a tank dries out - your headaches begin. I refill my own ink tanks.
That is the major reason I switched to Canon, plus I am branching into digital photography and wanted a printer that supported quality image printing.
I have already used this Canon i960 on a variety of different types of printing paper besides Canon and the results have been breathtaking.
The ink tanks can be easily refilled and I have purchased a bulk supply of ink for each of the six tanks.
I highly recommend this Photo quality printer in the Canon ink-jet series and think it is an investment well worth considering.
The Canon software is easy to use and well worth becoming familiar with after you install it.
