| illippinno's Full Review: Griffin Technology ITRIP FM TRANSMITTER FOR NEW (4... |
I didn't look for anything spectacular to let my iPod music play in my vehicle, so I thought this iTrip would suffice. I spent $30 for it at Comp USA, and boy was I disappointed.
From the get go, I seem to have trouble installing the iTrip on my iPod. I had to go directly to Griffin's website to download the software, because the software in the CD would not run properly on my computer.
After set up, I first tried it out in my home radio. It worked fine for what it can do, but the quality I got was less than radio quality. It seem to pick up more distortion and static than any other stations. It was also hard for me to find a good station to listen to the songs in my iPod. Sure, it came with over 100 radio stations I can use it to, but only 1 station worked, which still gave me a low quality of sound.
iTrip works when a radio station is not being used by a local of nationwide station. But it was hard for me to find an unused station here in Jacksonville, FL where I live. Sure, when I turn the dial or digitally browse the stations, I get at least 5 stations not used, but iTrip still would not pick it up. I gave up after trying it in 3 different cars.
My advice to you is:
1. If you have a cassette player, use the device you would use to connect your CD player to the tape player. You will get CD quality sound, for cheaper cost.
2. If you have a cd player with an auxillary port in the back, buy a cable from radio shack for less than $10 and directly connect it to your iPod. Works like a charm, for more then 70% of savings.
