| Naomi7835's Full Review: Lysol Cling |
One day a few weeks ago, I got a little ambition, and decided that it was time to clean and redo my bathroom. This is the one room that most of us do not enjoy cleaning, at least I don't. But I wanted to change my shower curtains and add some new accessories, scrub down the walls and clean the floor.
After scrubbing down the walls, the next thing I did was wash the floor. Being my bathroom is quite small, I like to wash the floor on my hands and knees. This way I don't splash up the woodwork and the cabinet with a mop. And by washing the floor this way I can wash the floor around the bottom of the toilet and behind it more thoroughly. While I was washing the floor around the bottom of the toilet bowl I happen to glance up under the rim of the toilet. That's when I spotted black gunk that was under the rim. I've used many toilet bowl cleaners over the years and always thought that they left my toilet bowl thoroughly cleaned. But I guess I was mistaken.
So off to the store I went and wondered down the cleaning isle. There was a lot of toilet bowl cleaners to choose from and many toilet bowl cleaners that I've already tried. Then I spotted the Lysol Cling Country Scent Toilet Bowl Cleaner. The word Cling caught my eye. Hmm, I thought, maybe the cling action of the Lysol Cleaner would get rid of the nasty that was under my rim, and it only cost $2.99. Well after a few minutes and reading the back label of the Lysol Cling Toilet Bowl Cleaner I did decide to buy it.
FEATURES:
The Lysol Toilet Bowl Cleaner comes in a nice refreshing Country Scent.
It comes in a plastic 24oz. squeeze container that's easy to use and handle.
The thick sea blue color cleaning liquid is nice because it clings underneath the rim and the sides of the toilet bowl, making it easier for a better bowl cleaning to remove any kind of stains.
Will not harm plumbing or septic tanks.
Kills 99% of germs.
It not only cleans but will disinfectant and deodorize your toilet as well.
The nozzle on the top of the container is shaped at a angle which allows you to be able to aim the liquid cleaner under the rim of the toilet bowl.
Contains no phosphates.
Comes with a child resistant cap, which I think is important, especially if you have small children.
OPENING THE CAP:
First I grasped the bottle with one hand near the top. Then with my other hand I pushed the cap down and turned the cap counterclockwise. To reseal the cap all I did was just twist the cap back on until it was tightly closed.
The first time that I opened the cap up, I made a little mess. Instead of holding the bottle near the neck I held the bottle near the middle of the container and didn't realize that I had squeezed the bottle some, while trying to remove the cap. As soon as I removed the cap the cleaner squirt out all over the top of my sink and cabinet. So caution should be used, and always read the label first for instructions on removing the cap and using. Any spills should immediately be cleaned up, which is what I did.
CLEANING THE TOILET BOWL:
If you have any heavy soil it would be best to scrub the toilet with a brush first. Point the angled top of the bottle under the bowl rim and squeeze the container. I gave it a good squeeze under the rim and around the sides of the bowl a couple of times. The cleaner comes out in a nice thick liquid which coats well. I let it stand for about 15 minutes, and then brushed the entire toilet and flushed. Got down on my knees and looked under the rim. It did remove most of the gunk, but still left a little remaining, so I applied more of the cleaner in and around the toilet again. Waited another 15 minutes, brushed it again and flushed the toilet. Checked under the rim again and finally, underneath my toilet bowl rim was nice and clean. So now I do use the Lysol Cling Toilet Bowl Cleaner at least once a week so I won't get a build up of that black gunk back under the rim again.
Before I cleaned the toilet I showed my husband what was lying under the rim. He said if no body can see the black stuff under the rim, why worry about removing it. I just told him that it should be cleaned out, and it would only build up more and possibly take on an offensive odor, that I didn't want in my bathroom. Well on that note he finally did agree with me.
If you do have a build up of hard water stains in your toilet bowl, it may be necessary to give the cleaner a few applications the first time that you use it, like I had to do.
ACTIVE INGREDIENTS:
Alkyl dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride.
Octyl decyl dimethyl ammonium chloride.
Didecyl dimethyl ammonium chloride.
Dioctyl dimethyl ammonium chloride.
WARNINGS FROM THE LABEL:
It can cause eye damage. If any of the liquid does spatter into the eyes, immediately flush with water and remove any contacts that you may be wearing and continue to flush the eyes. Get medical attention.
If spattered on the skin, wash with plenty of soap and water.
If swallowed rinse out the mouth, and drink one or two glasses of water. Do not induce vomiting and call your physician immediately.
Never use the cleaner with chlorine bleach or any other chemical products.
You may want to wear rubber gloves or protective eye wear, because when brushing the toilet with the brush especially under the toilet rim, sometimes a certain amount of cleaner will spatter out on yourself or your hands. So caution should always be used. As with any household cleaners, you should always wash your hands thoroughly after using.
THE FRAGRANCE:
The Country Scent fragrance from the Lysol Cling Toilet Bowl Cleaner leaves a very nice clean and refreshing fragrance. It doesn't leave a caustic smell, like some other cleaners that I've used. Although I always leave my bathroom window open for proper ventilation when I use any cleaners in my bathroom. A pleasant fragrance always makes a cleaner easier and nicer to use, and this Lysol Cleaner also offers disinfecting as well as cleaning ability. The Lysol Cling Toilet Bowl Cleaner comes in a Summer Fresh fragrance also, which I'm going to try when this bottle is finished up.
STORAGE:
Storing the Lysol Cling Country Scent Toilet Bowl Cleaner should never be store under a sink. This is the worst place to store this or any kind of cleaners. It should be stored up and away from small children's hands. I keep all of my cleaners up on the top shelf in my linen closet. Even though my grand kids are getting older now, I still feel that being cautious is still the best policy.
DISPOSAL:
After I'm done with any cleaners I always wrap the empty bottle up and place it in a plastic bag and then throw it in the trash.
MY FINAL THOUGHTS:
I'm quite satisfied with the performance of this Lysol Cling Country Scent Toilet Bowl Cleaner. I feel that it did a great job on getting rid of all of that black gunk that was underneath my toilet bowl rim. I like the nice clean Country Scent that it leaves behind, which makes it a lot nicer to use. It keeps my toilet bowl cleaner, and it does tackle the toughest toilet stains. And now by using it every week, I'm sure I won't see any more black gunk growing underneath my toilet rim.
Thanks for reading, now maybe you should go and check underneath the rim of your toilet bowl.
