When buying audio or video equipment, I have always had 100% satisfaction from another online merchant and never felt the need to use a competitor. I was purchasing a black Sony DVD Player. This model came in black or silver. Abt had both colors available, where the other merchant had been out of stock on the black model for over a month. I thought it may be time to take a chance and try Abt.
The price was several dollars less than the other merchant and I found out that by charging this purchase to my Discover Card, I would receive another 3% discount from Abt. There was free shipping and no sales tax for my state of residence.
My online order went through perfectly. I immediately received confirmation via email and several hours later I received an email with the UPS tracking number and the date of delivery. The standard, free ground delivery would be four business days from IL to FL.
I received the package on time with no damage to the DVD Player, although the outer box was slightly crushed on one edge and I could hear the inner box moving from side to side. I found that the inner box was protected by several air bags, which had shifted and left space for it to move. My other merchant has always used recyclable foam peanuts, which makes it impossible for the inner box to move. The other merchant always uses heavy duty security tape that will show if the box has been opened in transit. Abt used the basic clear packaging tape.
I would recommend Abt to others. As far as my future purchases from them, it would only be if my other merchant didn’t carry the item or was out of stock for a prolonged period of time. I must maintain loyalty to a merchant that has always given me 100% satisfaction.
