I had spent quite a bit of time researching different ways to take care of an air conditioning problem I have in my home. I have 4 different units (zones) that control the temperature in my home. One of the thermostats was placed in a hallway that doesn't have any vents cooling or heating it. So, needless to say, I can set the temperature but it just runs continuously since that hall is never heated or cooled. The rooms that are fed by the unit in that zone just overheat or overcool. I figured there had to be a way to fix this without major expense.
After doing some research, I found the Totaline Wireless Thermostat at Smarthome.com. While not cheap at $279, it would be a bargain if it worked like they said it would. So, I purchased it on-line and hoped for the best.
I made the purchase on a Wednesday afternoon Central time and, with no upgraded shipping on my part, I had it in my hands around noon on Friday. Couldn't believe it.
I started the installation about an hour later after reading the instructions. Again, I thought it sounded too easy to work but set out for the challenge. Less than an hour later I was done. I turned the power to the a/c unit back on, pushed the button on the remote thermostat and it came on with no problems whatsoever. I now have the thermostat in a room that is actually fed by the a/c unit and it works like a charm. Not quite sure that it actually has the "500 foot range through walls, floors and doors" like they state but I don't need that distance anyway.
Extremely happy with the product and with Smarthome.com.
