One of the merchants that my daughter shopped at for her birthday and for back-to-school is American Eagle Outfitters Online Store. These recent excursions reminded me that I hadn't shared about our online experiences with this merchant. We have successfully completed several purchases. This site offers clear direction to the category of choice. Although the graphics take a little while to load (we still have dial-up), the pictures offer good representation of the products - as do the descriptions. This store has a nice variety and good size range. Our orders have always arrived sooner than expected, are packaged nice, and the charges to my card are accurate. I recommend this online merchant for those seeking trendy apparel, especially teens and young adults.

ae.com sells mens and womens fashions, in particular items that are appreciated by the teen crowd and young adults. The focus of this review will be in regards to clothing purchased for my teen daughter and a pair of jeans for myself.
While my 13-year-old often thinks that the AE storefront is loud and crowded, she enjoys browsing the online site: showing me her likes/wants and at times creating a wish list. This works well for me, as I like shopping from the comforts of our home.
The home page is simple, in a calm good type of way. A top navigation bar allows you to select from Men's, Women's, Shoes, Clearance, Shop By Size, Wish List or Shopping Bag. There is a middle graphic, usually accompanied by a one-click ad promotion. The bottom bar offers: Help, My AE, AE Clear Card, AE Gift Card, Size Chart, Track Orders, Store Locater and About AE. Also there is a search bar, which allows you to enter a keyword or a style #. The top bar, bottom bar, and search bar are available during your entire shopping experience.
The graphics on this site offer good representation of the products, but at times take a little while to load on our computer (please note that we still have dial-up). If a clothing item is available in more than one color you can click on a swatch, and the item will then show up in that color.
This merchant sells women's clothing in sizes 0 - 18 jeans, and XS - XXL tops. This span works well for us, as my daughter needs a size 0 or 2 pant and a S shirt. At times the sizing selections at the storefronts can be picked over, another advantage to online shopping. The online store, unlike the storefronts, offers petite and tall sizes. Ah, yes a store that sells trendy petite sizes!
It is important to mention that the merchandise at this site, is in my view, spendy. Jeans range is price from $29.50, with most priced in the high $30 or $40. range. T's usually retail for $15.50 - $19.50. However there are sales, and at times you can obtain discount codes (given at the store, via email or obtained via sites such as currentcodes.com). American Eagle is a brand that is appreciated by youth, much like Abercrombie & Fitch.
ae.com accepts AE Clear Card, AE Gift Card, American Express, Novus Discover, MasterCard, or Visa (including Debit Cards with the MC or VISA logo). We are charged sales tax as there are American Eagle Outfitters in the our state.
There are three shipping options: standard, Fed Ex 2nd Day or Fed Ex Overnight. I select standard shipping, which states that your order can be expected in 3 to 10 business days. My orders have arrived nicely packaged, in 5 - 7 days. The charges for this service are fair, my order is usually between $25. - 49., shipping is $6.00.
Although you don't have to register to shop at this merchant, it is recommended. This process is simple and will allow you to: checkout faster, easily track orders, review entire order history, create a wish list and sign up for email alerts.
Overall I am pleased with this merchant and recommend shopping there.

As of 1/18/2007 I continue to patronize this online store. My most recent order arrived within one-week, contained the proper item and charges to my card were accurate. Be sure to check the sales section of this site, as pricing is great with regard to superb quality merchandise!
