I have used Expedia and other web sites to book air line tickets with no major problems. This was the first time I tried Travelocity, and the experience was awful.
First, the web site was not reliable. After entering all my data, and clicking the final button to make the purchase, I received a message that the order cannot be processed. I tried again at a later time, entered all the data, and got the same error message. So I called customer service to book the ticket.
I went through the entire order with the agent, thinking that it would be done right. Then I waited for the email confirmation but it did not arrive.
So the next day I called Travelocity, and waited a long time for my call to be picked up. The agent who finally attended to me, sent me a email there and then, but the purchase price in the email was at least $1000 more than what I was told yesterday. Immediately, I went to the Travelocity web site to look up the flight, and the flight was listed at a lower price. I explained that to the agent, and was put on hold for about 30 minutes. Finally she said she is able to void my ticket. But the money they deducted from my credit card will not be credited immediately.
Booking a ticket on an airline does not need to be so time-consuming. I spent all my time on the website and on the phone and got nothing out of it. Perhaps I need to be thankful that they agreed to void my ticket. But I have to wait an unpredictable amount of time before my credit card gets credited. I called on the third day to ask when that will happen, and the agent said it could be "one, two, three billing cycles"!
