Macy's.com--Average Shipping, Outstanding Sale Prices!

Recently I received a gift certificate for a department store called the Bon Marche. They are affiliated with Macy's and are now called Bon-Macy's locally. Armed with my gift certificate, I tried to hop online to the Bon website, and found that is was pretty barren and referred me to Macy's home page. They honor gift certificates from Bon (and a host of affiliated regional department stores). I had no trouble quickly spending $150.00, read on to see what I found!
Shopping At Macy's
There is something for everyone, provided you are willing to pay the price. The following departments are available for browsing, but my favorites are found in the Sale section.

Macy's is a higher end department store and offers merchandise by designers such as Donna Karan, benefit, Ralph Lauren, Kitchen Aid, and Tommy Hilfiger.
Prices I found to be pretty comparable to local department stores, but the sales section was a knockout. The heavy, hotel style Egyptian cotton blankets were the best price I'd seen bar none.
Selection was varied, and even in the sale and clearance section I was impressed with the options.
The products in all the areas were easy to locate, and contained plenty of information to narrow the buying decision. They also offer the capability to zoom in on a product and see it in more detail.
Checkout
The checkout process was easy, and required a short process to register for the site. They also offer a no-registration checkout, although I went ahead and registered as I anticipated using them again. The usual payment forms are accepted, Visa, Mastercard, Discover and AMEX as well as their own gift and charge cards, and affiliated merchants gift and charge cards. They are as follows, Bon, Lazarus, Burdines, Rich's and Goldsmith. Quite an impressive array of payment options. They also allow you to check a gift card balance online.
Shipping was free over $50 on my order, and seems to be the norm at the site. This is for standard shipping, and expedited delivery methods are available. There is a drop-down menu at checkout that lists the choices and costs to choose from.
Since my order was over $50, I went ahead and chose standard shipping so I could get the freebie. I received nearly instant order confirmation, and then I waited.....
Delivery
4 days later I got a shipping confirmation from the site, and my items were shipped UPS ground. From order date to delivery, it was 8 days. Average, but not speedy! For free, I won't fault it.
All In All
I was really pleased with Macy's and their website. It was easy to find what I wanted (and then some), and the ordering process was easy and relatively quick. Though their regular prices are a bit on the steep side, if they continue to offer free shipping on larger orders I will be back for holiday shopping.
