TextbookX was my first experience purchasing used textbooks online. I was very pleased with the site and would not hesitate to purchase from them again.
SITE
I found the site to be very easy to navigate and use. I was searching for my book by ISBN so it was very easy to find the correct title. I particularly liked the three choices they gave me to purchase the book. I could purchase it new, used, or used from their marketplace. I chose to purchase the used one because it was less than half the price than the new, and since it was in stock at the TextbookX warehouse I was more confident that I would receive it quickly than if I ordered from an individual in their marketplace.
As a warning about their site: I found that if I placed the used book in my cart, closed my browser, then went back to find it, that it was no longer in stock. I am guessing that this means they only had one book in stock so they reserved it for me when it was placed in my cart. I tell you this so that you know to remove items from your cart if you are shopping and decide not to purchase it quite yet, you may find yourself not able to find your product if you close your browser and go back! Fortunately I was able to go into my history and open a link to my old session to make my purchase.
SELECTION and PRICE
TextbookX was the only site on which I could find the used textbook I was looking for. I found it new on many sites, but at $100+ new and $55 used, I opted to go used on TextbookX.
SERVICE and SHIPPING
In the end I decided to pay $5 extra in order to have the book shipped to me a couple days sooner. I placed my order on Tuesday and received my book on Friday. Every step of the way I received e-mails from Akademos (TextbookX’s parent company) telling me the status of the order. I received an order confirmation, a confirmation that they had located my book in their inventory, and another confirmation that it had shipped. I was incredibly please with this aspect of the purchase.
CONCLUSION
I would highly recommend TextbookX. I cannot say anything about their Marketplace, but as for the books which they have in stock in their warehouse I would be totally comfortable buying from them again. Their prices and selection were unparalleled and the service was outstanding.
