| yakkowarner's Full Review: Dyson Floor Tool 00026 |
When I use my Dyson on my hard floor I use the "hard floor attachment". This changes the all purpose vacuum (DC07) into a canister vacuum by using the wand and the hose. The problem came when my wife proceeded to misplace the attachments. She insists on using the vacuum in its upright mode on the hard floor so she didn't care about the attachment. I, on the other hand, used the attachment exclusively on our tile floor. Since neither one of use was able to fine the attachment, I proceeded to go to Bestbuy with her and spend 40 bucks on this attachment.
How it works
The handle of the DC07 can be taken off and converted to the wand for the hose and accessories. One end of the wand is connected to the hose and the other is connected to the floor adapter. Now you just set the floor adapter to the carpet or hard floor setting, turn on the machine, and suck up the dirt and cheerios.
Unlike the floor adapter that comes with the full version, this adapter can work on both carpet and hard floor. You have two small pedals on the adapter that raises or lowers the suction hold. On carpet is it higher and on hard floor it is lower. The buttons are easy to press. The only problem I have is that it is not clear which pedal does what because they use pictures and not names. This unit also does not come with directions.
Does it suck?
Of course. It Works as well as the other attachments. I did not feel any leaking air or any other abnormalities. Because of how the bottom is designed it picks up items on the edge of the unit fairly well.
It also sucks in that all it does is suck. It does not have an agitator brush. Even if you put a brush on it there would be no way to power it. If you really need a brush on this unit then get the DC11.
My opinion on how well it works
I bought this for hard floors so in that department it works very well. It rolls better, picks up just slightly better, has a wider head, and has slightly more range when dealing with shorter objects. I am very impressed with it.
As far as carpet is concerned I am not totally impressed. I am pleased with how it works and I would use it on area rugs or for light jobs on my carpet. But for certain conditions you do need an agitator brush, so I use the vacuum in its normal mode instead of this attachment on my carpeted rooms.
The materials
The whole unit is made with the same durable plastic that Dyson vacuums are made out of. The website claims it is the same stuff that crash helmets, cars and pipelines are made our of. You will be hard pressed to damage this unit.
Will it work with the DC11
I am afraid not. But that does not matter because the DC11 comes with a superior version of this design.
Who is this for?
If you do not own the full version or the animal version then I highly recommend getting this attachment, unless you do not have low lying furniture or you do no have much hard flooring in your home.
About the rating
I gave it a five because it is a great attachment that works. The only issue is the price. Just like the vacuum, the price is a bit high for the average consumer. If I took price into consideration then it would only get 4 stars.

Summary
I expected this tool to perform at a 5 star rating and I was not disappointed. It is made out of the same strong plastic. It works perfectly at its main job, which is sucking. And it is easy to use. But just like the vacuum, it is expensive.
If you have the animal or the full version then you probably do not need this accessory (unless you lose your hard floor accessory.) If you have the bare bones model then I highly recommend this accessory for your hard floors and for sweeping under low furniture. Other than that I do not see a reason for anyone buying this accessory.
