| sea__wong's Full Review: 3Com OfficeConnect 11Mbps Wireless with XJACK Ante... |
I've Had the 3Com XJack wireless 802.11b card for 2 years now and it is a great product!
I've used it mostly with IBM thinkpads T20 T21 T30. Now I have it so that I can get by when my thinkpad goes in for service. The newThinkpads with built-in antennas ar eof course preferable but f you need an easy to configure wireless card that's able to hold a signal and stay in your PC card slot all the time then the 3com is a great solution.
Why ?
Key Points
1.The retracting Antenna is a life saver in the rush from the office to the airport!
2. The software is stable and does not conflict with any other drivers I found
3. A full range of win drivers is available including Pocket PC, from the 3 com site.
4. Power Consumption is ok in good coverage areas.
Points for Improvement ?
Key points
1. The Antena has a strong directional bias
2. The LED is Super Bright ! ( great for keeping your spouse awake.
3. The Peer to Peer Tool is not integrated with IBM's Access connections ( but not an issue if you have any other Laptop).
Final wrap ?
A great robust damage resistant design.
"It just works"
