Pros: Excellent Customer Service.
Good phone service while in town.
Many anytime minutes for the money.
Cons: Outlying coverage not as depicted on maps.
Can't get voice mail on roaming.
The Bottom Line: If you stay in town most of the time, U.S. Cellular is excellent. Go for a regional plan, not local.

| bobskywatch's Full Review: General Reviews of US Cellular Customer Service |
I have had U.S. Cellular for nearly a year now, and I am mostly happy with it. Call made are for the most part clear with only occasional dropped calls or interference. I have found a strong signal throughout the Chicago area. Voice mails come in when they are sent(I have had a service in the past in which they were delayed by a couple of days).
Customer service is very good. When I came in to have a defective phone fixed they simply replaced my phone with a new one. No hassles. When I called customer service to change my service, again no problems. They made the change without so much as a quibble.
Here are some short comings. I often go out into outlying areas of Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin, and I have found service to be spotty in some areas. The coverage maps show solid coverage for southern Wisconsin and most of Illinois, but I have found that the outlying areas have many holes with weak or no signal. I can understand why there would not be coverage in these areas, but I wish that they would indicate these areas on their maps. They are not small areas. For example, there seems to be a gap in coverage between I-55 and Kankakee. I wonder how far south the gap continues. There have been areas where my phone went on roaming, but I am well within the supposed local coverage.
Thankfully, I am on the regional plan, so I was not charged roaming. I strongly recommend going with the regional plan instead of local. You still get 700 minutes for $40.
When I am out in these areas the quality of my calls suffer, and I suffer more dropped calls than when in town.
Another annoyance - when off the local network I do not get voice mails. I have to wait until I am back on the network to get them.
