Shuffle suckered me in (Reply to this comment)
by Scheurmann
I bought a shuffle before I looked at the Creative Labs MUVO, and was sorry for it. The version of MUVO I have takes a single AAA battery - a lifesaver if you are on long trips with no computer.
I can't drag and drop - did you have to install Apple software to do that? MUVO is so plug and play - I didn't have to install ANYTHING!
Good review -

Nice comparison (Reply to this comment)

Nice to see the Shuffle compared to another similar player .
I think in the UK the 1GB version is marketed at £99 and the 512K version at £69, if that helps anyone.

"Shuffle" is not over-rated (Reply to this comment)
by coinboynyc
From the review: "The Shuffle idea is very overrated . . . the tunes that are on your playlist can be 'shuffled' to appear in a different play order. Ok, who cares?"
Well, I do. I like the idea of having a variety of different songs, selected randomly. That's how I use my MP3 player 95% of the time.
Back to the review: " . . . there are probably 25 [songs on my playlist] that I very much favor. Those are also likely to be the ones that I want to hear . . . Hence, for my needs, the 'shuffle' has little use."
And for MY needs the shuffle feature is indispensable.
That doesn't make me right and the reviewer wrong, of course... it's just that the comment about the shuffle feature being over-rated is too broad, and doesn't apply to all people. Besides, don't all MP3 players have a shuffle feature anyway? So how would it be any worse on the Ipod Shuffle, unless it's the fact that "shuffle" is part of the product's name?
(Disclosure: I do not own an Ipod Shuffle and have no intention of getting one. This comment was in response to the original reviewer's statement of shuffle play being over-rated.)

Hi. (Reply to this comment)

Hi. I am curious about how you were able to use an iPod shuffle already? Apple just announced them last week, and even the Apple store says to expect a 3-4 week wait. Many stores have waiting lists several hundred people long for when they do arrive.
Also, the previous comment is correct. The 1GB version is set to sell for $150. The smaller version is the one that is about $100.

THE SPECIFICS:
* $99.00
* Size 3.3" x .98 x .33
* .78 ounces weight
* 1GB storage
The $99 model is 512mb, the 1gig model is $150
The N200 runs just under $100. The $100 model is 256 mb. The comparably sized 512mb N200 is ~$120, but...does offer FM tuner, voice recorder, supports wma, lcd readout and a few other features of note.
Also be interested in knowing the how the max volume of the models compare.....
The battery provides just 12 hours of usage. Actually, that is the maximum you will get. The N200 provides three more hours. Be interesting to see some data from real world testing. I'll bet both fall a bit short of nameplate, but thats just a guess. The N200 uses replaceable alkalines or rechargeables, the Shuffle uses "non replaceable" (more or less) integrated lithium ion batteries. If you use rechargeables in the N200, battery life will probably be comparable or a bit less than the shuffle. Pluses and minuse to each option.
